DIY Nissan Murano spark plug tube seals
#16
I can't really tell whats going on - its just a bunch of pictures with no explanation. Are you working on a Murano or a G35? What did you replace the parts with?
Please add some explanation to your DIY instead of the extra pictures that are not as self explanatory as you seem to think they are.

If people don't understand from the pictures what is going on, they shouldn't be doing this modification anyway especially if they cant tell the difference between a FWD VQ and a RWD VQ. Buy new valve covers and get on with life. A couple hundred dollars for 5 years of service life isn't bad considering anything German would cost in maintenance close to the entire purchase price of the car over 5 years of ownership.
I could really give a **** at this point in my life if anyone here doesn't get it. I got bigger things to worry about right now.
Does it even matter what car? It's still a VQ. Isn't it?

UPDATE. They leak now. I put RTV in the flange of the seals and R&D Factory did not or did not say. Some seals leak and some don't. Even though the seals drop it and do not have to be pressed in, they said they seal simply by the pressure build up in the valve cover pushing up against the seals and the flange of the covers. There is also A LOT of oil that gets passed the PCV valve now and it fills an oil catch can quickly. It also burns oil at startup if it draws vacuum from the upper plenum.
It might of worked if I didn't put in RTV and didn't remove the cam lobe surface around the PCV valve. I am not willing to give it another try at this point. I'll get some new valve covers at 175 each and replace them and be done with it.

I'm not entirely sure because I put RTV in the flange of the seals and they didn't. So it might work but I doubt it because the seals simply drop in and do not require pressing. Some even fall out. But they said it doesn't leak. Someone else can try it without RTV and confirm if it works or not.
The seals in the new valve covers are pressed in by the cam lobe surface.
