PSGOTM August: GTA 4
Playstation Game of the Month for August is GTA 4.
We welcome Niko to America, scarface style. I'd like to keep the spoilers to a minimum until the end of the month. Use this thread to discuss hints, tips, cheats, tweaks, and glitches. Discuss parallels to reality and segments of absurdity.

My first impression is that its dark. And by dark, I mean even with the game settings at full bright playing during the day is difficult without adjusting the settings on the TV. The controls, layout, and play are similar to previous versions of GTA so its like sleeping with your wife. In your comfort zone, but still good
 (I also prefer to press L1 to cycle to the $50 service  )The graphics leave something to be desired, but given the scope of this sandbox, its understandable that something had to give. Its not unbearable, just not COD4 good. Online play is nice. The team deathmatch option is particularly sweet. You can co-op in a car (driver and a shooter) but as you can imagine, having headsets help to communicate. I'm only about 18-20% through the game, getting about 1.5-2 hours a night in on the game. 1 hour of gameplay in and I know I'm probably not going to "end" this one.
Agreed, the graphics do leave a lot to be desired. It looks like an updated San Andreas. This game was rushed; I hate when they rush games. Hopefully the game picks up.

the game was INSANE, before they had to reduce it's size to fit on the Xbox's measly 8.5 gigs...
i heard this destroyed many aspects of the game... basically, Xbox ruined GTA, although it's still a freakin cool game i'm going to wait a few days for some of you who just started this game to catch up to where i am, almost at the end. TIP:this map has everything in GTA listed, even the 'side-stories', which appear as green people on your map in-game. if you can't find any, that means you have to do more missions before they appear again, usually 3 http://grandtheftauto.ign.com/maps/1/Liberty-City-Map

I guess that's why I don't like this game much. I like my games to have more substance than I would normally find in a "casual game". So far, aside from the revenge story, this game is just a series of mini-games.

So I'm up to the part where they're living in "Bohan" and working for Elizabeta. The game is getting very repetative at this point. the whole dating/hanging out thing is kind of lame.

I think im there too right now. just moved into the new place and "cleaning up the streets".
graphics are not up to my minimum standards. compared to san andreas and vice city, it's great but so far, im disappointed at jagged edges and seeing the same cars in different colors.

yea you guys are at a point in the game that's kinda slow...
you're prolly working with MAnny, but don't worry, story gets' good. BTW, anytime you can choose to let someone live, you should, cuz they will give you side missions later on (be they good or bad)

meh...doesn't look like I will do any side story items, I just wanna be done with this game for the sake of the GOTM club

The plot has thickened, but the missions do get repetitive. Manny, haha, boom outta here. Gotta watch that trunk lid
