Too bad the rest of the movie outside of that intro is typical Hollywood fare. Great first 20 minutes...blah on the rest of the movie. One of my favorites was the opening scene at breakfast of Reservoir Dogs. Talented writing, great cinematography, and brilliant editing. |

Raiders wasn't bad. The Prestige. Enemy at the Gate.

You are one of the first I've ever heard to say SPR is hollywood fare. Definitely not a blah movie in my book, one of my favorite of all time actually.

Can't find a video clip, but I remember dropping my jaw when I first saw The Matrix movie intro.

To me, it's a war movie, and it wasn't my favorite in that genre. I preferred Full Metal Jacket, Apocalypse Now, Deer Hunter and Platoon over SPR for that category. |

Understood, everyone has their own opinions. I've always been a war movie guy and have probably watched the vast majority of war movies made......but SPR is certainly one of my favorites. Have you watched Band of Brothers? If so, what did you think of that?

Believe me, I LOVE war movies. I've watched all of them, including all the bad ones. While I liked Tom Hanks in SPR, I did not much care for Matt Damon or Barry Pepper and felt that they took something away from it. All war movie fans have their favorite. Mine happens to be FMJ. I think it did the best job in letting you get immersed in the story and gave a good portrayal of what that era was like, more so than any other. I have yet to see a single episode of Band of Brothers. I hear it's phenomenal. I have been under the impression that I need to see if from the beginning and that I would be lost if I started from any other point. I just stopped subscribing to HBO one The Sopranos was retired. |
