Greatest guitarists!

Okay, I'm just sitting here rearranging my iPod and listening to my songs, I LOVE Van Halen!

I enjoy listening to Eddie jamin on that GUITAR! My gosh, that guy can play! I thought, okay, who are the best guitarist that I've ever listened to. And here's my list:

1. Eddie Van Halen - saw Van Halen in concert several times and I just about melted on the concrete floor (or my hardwood floor @ home) whenever Eddie jams on his guitar!

2. B.B. King - smooth, had the privilege to hear B.B. live as well a couple of times.

3. Eric Clapton - although I've never seen him live, I used to steal my Mom's tapes and listen to Eric.

4. Stevie Ray Vaughn- WOW!

5. Jimmy Page - growing up, my cousins used to jam on Zeppelin while we're just hanging out or playing pool or ping pong in my cousins garage.

6. Jimmy Hendrix! - phenomenal, that's the only word I could describe the way he handles the guitar.

7. Joe Perry - Aerosmith is nothing without him.

Who do you think are some of the greatest guitarists?

How can you leave off Joe Satriani, Steve Vai and Eric Johnson?

+1 on Satch and Vai

John Petrucci - Guitar God from Dream Theater

Kerry King/Jeff Hanneman - insane thrashers from Slayer

Marc Rizzo - Ill Nino, Soulfly guitarist. Amazing work in heavy metal music, but also dabbles in Flamenco guitar.

Dimebag Darrell Abbot - The best guitarist of my time so far. RIP.

Yngwie Malmsteen - Nothing less than Amazing

NICE list. My faves would include SRV, Page and Clapton but I'm also a huge Santana fan. Seeing how your tastes run, Gerry, you should also check into a Canadian blues man named Colin James. And don't forget George Harrison, Mark Knopfler, and the late Les Paul.

The Edge (David Howell Evans) from U2 and Carlos Santana are two that you can't overlook in your list

JD Simo

I have been playing guitar for 20+ years and I have been in the music/guitar industry for over a decade. Part of my job is to find great guitarists. THIS guy is one of the best players I have ever seen. He is a session player in Nashville and plays in a local band that sells out thier home club 5 nights a week. I'm sure none of you have ever heard of him but he is amazing! Every time I go to Nashville, I see him at least twice. The crazy thing is that he is only 24 years old!
He is technical and has soul to spare!

I know this is a cover but watch the whole thing to see his skills.
