Just got a G35; not thinking about an EX35 or RDX...
Hey...I just purchased a G35 Journey last weekend for my wife, to replace her '04 Accord EX-V6. The G is the best car I've ever purchased - we absolutely love it.
I drive an '06 Pilot loaded EX-L with Navi, and am experiencing "I want a new car too" angst, though I love my Pilot. So now I'm looking at an RDX or an EX35 to replace my Pilot. My rationalization is that I don't really need the third row seats that I needed two years ago, so I can "downsize" a bit. My understanding is that the EX35 is basically the G sedan with a different body style, so I don't know that I want two cars that are so similar, even though we LOVE the G. And if I'm "downsizing" from the Pilot, then I don't need the MDX, which is basically the Acura Pilot. A key use for me is racking mountain bikes up top - I have a Thule rack on my Pilot's rails, and will want to rack the RDX. I don't think that either Thule or Yakima have a fit kit for the EX35 yet (they don't for the G), and I haven't checked for the RDX. Thoughts? |

Yeah the EX35 is basically a G35 station wagon, but the marketing gurus at Infiniti just call it a crossover.
Watch out for trunk space in the back, in the EX its surprisingly small, the sloping rear trunk door is the cause of that. So if you're looking for decent trunk space, the RDX is probably your best bet. Look at them both and it should make the decision a lot easier. Both should be able to rack mountain bikes up top.

I agree, my wife wanted to trade her 05 G sedan in for a EX35. (mostly because the EX35 looks sooo pretty inside out) We went to the dealership to check out the EX and were shocked to see such a small trunk and limited rear seat leg room. In fact it would appear the EX backseats are smaller than the G sedan and the trunk not much better. When it comes to utility, the only redeeming quality with the EX is the split fold down 40/60 rear seats. So on a good day you'd be able to pick up two oversea guests from the airport in the EX...... which is about the same as the regular G sedan. Then again the EX is priced very similar to a G sedan, it's got better looking front end, way nicer interior material and all the new gadgets built in.
In the end we decided to keep the 05 G Sedan for now, since the new G35 sedan is better but not THAT much better than the old G sedan. I passed up on the G37 Coupe as well, frankly I love the new interior, the ride, the new motor but I like the design of the G35 Coupe more. |

Blown away...
Folks...I inspected and drove it yesterday for the first time and was blown away. IMO, the back seat is fine with the driver seat set to where I would put it, and the cargo space is OK. Sure, not my Pilot, or the RDX, or the FX, but OK. And putting the seats down (automagically) makes it plenty.
The vehicle crushes the RDX, and feels much smoother and roomier than the G. I'm sold... |

If you like driving, then the EX is the best crossover. But that's probably because it's about as close to a car as a crossover can get and still be considered a crossover.
So when will you be taking delivery?

That's exactly why - close to a car with a bit more utilitiy, and lots of toys. I'm in it alot, and want luxury. |
