However I have concerns about a built in navigation as well. Is it accurate? is it easy to use? Is there a way to update the maps as it becomes out of date?

If anyone here has first hand experience with the built in GPS I would appreciate it, especially if you also have first hand experience with a garmin and can compare the two.

Btw I am looking at a 2006 model.

Thanks!

I have around $35k CAD total to spend, i don't think i can find a used G37 for this price in Vancouver, BC. I was planning to buy this imported G37 from USA on craig's for $33k CAD + tax, but my dad said it's not safe buying a car from out of my country? So is it safe buying a car that came from the US if im in Canada?

This car is mainly for getting to school (1.5hr bus/skytrain to school, + another 1.5hr back). This will be my first car, so it has to be automatic... I don't have time to learn to drive manual and i'm lazy even though i know its funner and faster.

Sorry, i think i posted my other thread in the wrong section.:7:

Prices:
Used 2006 G35- ~$27000 + tax (The extra $ goes to mods!)
Used 350z ~$25000 + tax
Used 2008 G37 from the US- ~$33000 + tax (9.5k miles, fake? This is pushing the limit, gotta sell my computer for this. I don't really mind selling my computer if i can get a g37..)
New Genesis Coupe 3.8 Automatic- ~$33000 + tax (Pushing the limit as well, and my parents don't really like the brand...)

hey guys,
well i was lookin for a g35x a couple years ago but couldnt find one that wasnt a accident repair... so i ended up buying a Cadillac CTS, great car and love it still. ..i think im going to keep it, but havent decided, i really want a CTS-V for summer... we will see how things go.

hey guys,
well i was lookin for a g35x a couple years ago but couldnt find one that wasnt a accident repair... so i ended up buying a Cadillac CTS, great car and love it still. ..i think im going to keep it, but havent decided, i really want a CTS-V for summer... we will see how things go.

so its about time i start looking again, im going to get rid of my suv because it is getting up in the km's and im sure the gas prices are not goign to come down any time soon so another suv may be a bad choice.

so im looking for a 05ish awd slowly, im going to look at one this weekend, its black 4dr 06 with 90km or so on it, dont know the going price or condition yet.

what year did the g35x come in a 2 dr? would really love a coupe but i think its going to be a little too much money.

so what should i be looking for with this car? any common problems? how is the driveline? durable? any common spots for oil leaks?

how are the engines? do they have any problems with blowing, oil consumption, valves or lifter problems etc

any info appreciated

cheers

Hey guys,

I have a small question how much should an 2005 Infinite G35X Sedan cost, with everything fully loaded including such has heated seats, MP3 player, sun roof.

My local dealer is selling one for 17,000 dollars with 70,000 miles on it. We are thinking of giving our old Altima '97 with 185,000 miles in ok condition as a trade in and offering 12,000 dollars for it. Hopefully the dealer goes down to 13 or 14K.

But anyway, what do you guys think it should cost with 70,000 miles on it? That's a lot of miles for 4 year old car. I just checked the car fax of the car. It had no problems at all and it was taken in because the previous owner could not fulfill the necessary payments.

Thanks in advance guys. :)

PS: I don't know how to drive manual and it has auto trans so its alright. :)

Hey guys,

New member here looking for for some expert advice on the G35 coupe (2003-2005). I've gathered a ton of info searching the forums already! Hopefully these questions will be interesting to debate for the guys who have been here a long time and good stuff for us newbie's too!!

My Situation

I currently in the process of selling two cars (02 S2000 and an 06 Z4M Coupe). It looks like the S2k is gone this week (have a deposit) and a guy is picking up the Z4MC next week. I loved and tracked both of these cars and am only selling to get a performance car that I can get my 3 kids in (and maybe occasionally the wife :)).

I want a car as a daily driver that I can also put on the track for 4-5 DE's/open track events per year. The car has to be quick stock or fairly easily modified (brakes, suspension) to be quick. By "quick" I mean to be able to keep up with (or preferably pass!) the guys I run with at the track. My buddies drive evo's, highly modified S2k's, 350z nismo, cayman S, etc.. My S2k was a little slower than average and beemer was a little faster.

My initial thoughts were an 2006 or 2008 Evo (Pros - fast stock: Cons - ugly, 4wd), 2002-2005 M3 (Pros -fast stock, great DD: Cons - expensive), 2000-2004 911 (sweet ride, expensive to buy AND work on). So I didn't really have a clear direction... Then a buddy who works for Nissan mentioned the G35 and the huge availability of suspension, intake, and brake mods.

My initial thoughts were that the G was a little heavy, underpowered for what I wanted to do (no offense! Just my first reaction), and probably set up much more for the street than the track. However, as I researched I found that it is a pretty good handling car out of the box. Also the older models seem to be going for $15+. So with $5k worth of mods may be a great track car.

Sooo... as I finally get to my point. Here are my thoughts/questions:

Questions

1. Should I start with the sport version that includes the Brembo package? Or does it matter because everything needs to change? Obviously I want 6MT...

2. Thoughts on price of car and total price of mods? 50,000 miles and slight imperfections are not a big deal...

3. What mods would you do? In what order/cost?

4. Is there a certain year I should concentrate on?

5. Will the stock seats work with a 4 point safety harness (i.e. mount to rear seat belt mounts and shoulder straps go under/around the headrest)?

6. I would probably install an adjustable camber plate to easily move between track and street setup. Mfr recommendation?

7. Any weight saving ideas without tearing the car apart??? Probably a silly question...

8. Is a goal of putting $20k into a car and mods to get Cayman S/Evo/350Z Nismo kind of track performance realistic? Should I go in a different direction?

Whew!! I think I'm done. Thanks for your help and please steer my in the right direction if some of these answers are elsewhere here that I haven't seen them!!
