right now i have 18s on the car that i pulled off a coupe. and they stick out in the rear on my car about 3/8 inch. on big bumps if im going someone fast the rear end drops down far enough to hit the tires. the tire size is 275/35/18. on a 18x10.

actual question -

is there a spring for the rear that is really stiff or something that i can use to be able to lower the rear and inch and not let it drop down enough to hit. because if i lower it an inch then its going to hit even more. so i would need something stiff. or does anyone have any other ideas? and no i dont want to have to get another set of rims. i cant afford another set

Hey all, longtime lurker, first time poster, hopefully all the G35 gurus should be able to point me in the right direction. My 04 G35x is coming up on 75,000 miles, and I've noticed a lot of undamped bouncing from the suspension. It's basically only on slightly bumpy roads that there's a lot of side-to-side motion bouncing the driver and passenger up and down a lot compared to previously. Hard cornering and smooth roads are still fine. A dealership told me that the front compression rod bushings were cracked and needed to be replaced, but another mechanic told me they were fine. Are these the same as lower control arm bushings? Would replacing these even fix the problem?

The other obvious possibility is shocks, so I'm thinking I'll replace the shocks and bushings, but I need some help determining what my possibilities are before I start replacing parts at random. Does this sound reasonable, or am I missing something? Also, are the bushings sold separately or is there a Nismo part that replaces the whole arm? I'd really appreciate any recommendations you all might have.

Hey guys, I've got an 03 coupe on 18s. My front shocks are blown and I'm looking for a spring shock combo that will lower my car an inch all around. I'm thinking I want linear springs because I drive my car pretty hard. Please keep in mind that I don't intend to track my car at all, this is my daily driver. I don't want to be too stiff and be bouncy, but I obviously wouldn't mind being stiffer than stock. Adjustment options aren't necessary, but I wouldn't mind them. I just figure I would set them and not touch them again. I'm looking for a combo that would put me around $800, I definitely don't want to spend $1000.

I've heard Koni shocks are legit, but I've been seeing them for $600 for all four and I still have no clue what kind of springs I want. I've also been seeing how some people use 350z springs for a stiffer/lower ride, I'm wondering if they sit lower because of the extra weight of the G and if that would cause a problem or improvement as far as handling characteristics. I guess I'm looking for springs that are stiff but don't lower much more than 1 inch, and some shocks that will keep it comfy and improve on handling. I've been doing my own research but I feel like I need some help sifting through all the info out there.:confused2: So advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Which brake pads/rotors to buy for my G35 coupe?

Hi all,

Hi all,

I have a 2004 Infiniti G35 coupe. This past weekend I got the passenger front rim changed (the earlier rim got bent due to a pothole on the freeway).

2 days after the rim change I started hearing a rather loud screeching noise from the same wheel. I took it back to the mechanic and he said that the brake pad has completely worn out (which is rather strange cos before I left the car with him for the rim replacement, everything seemed ok). Anyways, he said it's so bad that even the rotors are gone and I will have to replace them too. His quote was a whopping $500 to change the brake pads + rotors! :confused2:

So I am here writing for some advice on this forum. I have a couple of questions:
1. I checked some brake pads prices online for 2004 Infiniti and they range from $20 to about $120. So I am totally confused which one to get. (The wheels on my car is 18" if that makes a difference). Someone told me that I should only put the most expensive Brembo brake pads on my car. Anything else will screw it up. Is that true?

2. How do I figure out myself if the rotors need to be replaced? I somehow don't trust that mechanic.

3. Any suggestions about the rotor brands/places to buy, etc.?

Any other helpful advice will be much appreciated.

Thanks!

There were twisties here and there that I could easily take at 80, I could make dangerously quick freeway lane changes (in gaps barely big enough for the car, I know stupid) without losing it. And in the G, I am a little apprehensive. It feels alot more sluggish then my GTI, possibly because it's a FWD vs a RWD. How can I get my G to basically feel as close as I can to my GTI for a reasonable price of lets say a few grand? My GTI was also lowered about a half inch. Other than that, everything was stock.

Ordered the Tokico HP blue shocks from forum sponsor THMotorsports.com. Units arrived fast and as ordered, and I got them installed today at my local shop. My car is a 2004 6mt sport sedan.

First driving impressions: Nice. My car has 97,000 miles on it, so the original shocks were...uhmmm..."a little tired." The new shocks have brought back a lot of the new car feel, high speed stability, and razor sharp reflexes I associated with my G when new. If I could I would dial in a TINY bit more stiffness, but overall I'm not unhappy with the valving. As best I can tell, these are pretty much identical to the OE sport suspension, so if you're looking for more stiffness you might want to go with the D-Specs.

The only down side is that I can now feel a little undamped high frequency chassis motion that I think must be coming from the tires. A few psi in the tires might get rid of that and sharpen the response some more.

Overall a good purchase and very necessary for a car with that kind of mileage on it.

One question for the group: My mechanic called me during the install and told me the rears are about 1.5" shorter than OE. I called THM really quick and he told me that I had the right shocks and yes they were a little shorter. Anybody noticed this, and is this correct? I guess it wouldn't make any difference unless I was about to catch air, and there doesn't seem to be any problem, so I'm really just double checking this by the group.

Thanks.
