(I have access to a shop, lift and mandrel bender) I'm not to worried about how loud it is and am thinking about deleting whatever resonators and mufflers are behind the cats and putting the Blitz Nur Spec axle back on...(will that fit a sedan) Think this would be worth any hp more or less than replacing a resonator with another? I know some cars respond better with more backpressure but ours seem to be like turbo cars. the faster you get the air in and out the more power you get.

RASP ( raassp ): Sound that is emitted from the exhaust tips of an Infiniti G35 Coupe without the aid of the oem catalitic converters nor the oem mid resonator/muffler. Can sometimes be confused with the sound most Honda 4 cylinder vehicles make when oem exhaust is replaced.

For those who have been wondering...yes...it has a LOT of rasp ( my car has test pipes which only make it worse ). Enough that I'm sure 99% of people here won't like it. I personally don't love it, but what I love is that it is LOUD at WOT....yet very decent, if not almost quiet, at low speeds. I kinda enjoy the racy sound it makes, but at the same time doubt I could live with it for long.

I figured that if I don't like the way it sounds I could just get an aftermarket exhaust ( something I was planning on anyways ). FWIW....I have an oem mid pipe for sale ( just the resonator, I cut out the piping so welding will be necesarry )...lol.

Hey guys. I've got a question about exhaust. Really aimed towards the folks who are mechanics and/or worked for Infiniti.

The short story.
I ran over a dead deer and it F'd up the underside of my 03 G sedan. Insurance wants me to pay a 'betterment' fee of 50% of the cost the parts :front exhaust pipe (from manifold to cats) and both cats. The 'betterment' fee is cause they say they are replacing old wornout parts with 'better' new ones. So I'm trying to gather some info before I try to fight it out with my insurance company.

This sounds a bit like BS to me. I have never heard of a front exhaust pipe wearing out through normal wear and tear and needing to be replace. Now, I do remember hearing about people having to replace their cats on older (late 80's, early 90's) vehicles. I have not heard this from anyone with a newer car.

Any input I can get would be greatly appreciated.

FYI: My G has 138,000 and before the dead deer was is great working condition. It's my baby and i take car of her.

Thanks,
Dave

So I'm debating on which would be the ideal setup for someone who does not plan on running without a catalytic converter. Yes the ability to take out the HFC's module and run straight pipes is nice but i don't think I would ever do it unless i were to seriously track my car (which I do not). This is my daily driver and I'm currently on OEM exhaust with a 5/16 spacer and MREV2.

I already have the motordyne XYZ pipe with the resonator module and purchased a single 3" y back section which has not come in yet (exotic speed R1-T). So with that said I want everyone's opinion.

Hey guys - new here. my girl has an '05 G35 sedan (AT). just this weekend i installed a stillen air intake with the z-tube. the sound is great, and the throttle response is a small bit improved, so we're happy about that.

the only thing is the z-tube didn't seem to seat/line up right. if i kept the breather tube bung on the bottom of the tube (like the stock piece sat) the back of the tube didn't seem to connect to the rear coupler (to the intake mani) well - it was like it hit the coupler at an angle instead of being straight in. if i adjusted it so the rear coupler connected straight on, the breather hole was in the top of the tube and the breather line had a hard time reaching. also, the connection to the MAS seemed to not line up well.

i think i am going to play with it a little more to see if i can get things to line up better, but i wanted to see if anyone had experienced something like this with the z-tube. as is, everything is sealed and tight, it just doesn't seem to line up easily like i assumed it would.

thanks in advance - i look forward to learning a bunch about these cars, as i come from the audi/vw world.
