Tech Info Summary
Reposted from
DaveO (Member) 08/19/03 11:52 AM As a suggestion, I'd like to see a technical section (real world data base) which would include basic specs, component interchangability & other specific technical information. While incomplete, the following examples could become the basis for the tech section. Basic Specifications - (These were obtained from Edmunds] * G35 Sedan - 3.5L, 260HP @ 6000RPM - 260 ft/lbs Torque @ 4800RPM. Curb weight w/Auto Trans, 3369lbs - w/Manual Trans, 3398lbs. * G35 Coupe - 3.5L, 280HP @ 6000RPM - 270 ft/lbs Torque @ 4800RPM. Curb weight w/Auto Trans, 3442lbs - w/Manual Trans, 3435lbs. * 350Z Touring - 3.5L, 287hp @ 6000RPM - 274ft/lbs Torque @ 4800RPM. Curb weight w/Auto Trans, 3239lbs - w/Manual Trans, 3247lbs. (Performance Z - 3225lbs) Technical information - * The G35 Sedan and Coupe air intake systems are identical. The total area for air supply is approximately 13 in/sq above the grill providing for a ram air effect at speed. [Main opening - 4.625' x 1.625" = 8.775 in/sq; aux supply opening - 13.125" x .275" nominal]. The air supply duct from the MAF (Mass Air Flow) Sensor to the Throttle Body is designed with silencers (resonators?) to minimize noise * The 350Z air intake system is unique. A 3.5" x 3.5" (12.25 in/sq maximum) hole through the radiator bulkhead provides ambient air to the front of the airbox for a ram air effect at speed. The air duct from the MAF (Mass Air Flow) Sensor to the Throttle Body is a straight tube without silencers (resonators ?) Interchangability - Engine - 1) The G35 Sedan, G35 Coupe and 350Z engines are the same. 2) Factory 3.5 VQ Engine oil filters are interchangable. 3) The 350Z engine cover will fit any G35. Modifications are required if the stock air intake is retained and/or if the car has a engine driven radiator cooling fan. Air inlet systems - 1) The 350Z Air Inlet Duct will fit the G35 Sedan & Coupe Exhaust system - 1) The G35 Sedan, Coupe and 350Z exhaust manifolds, cat/downpipes and y-pipes are the same. 2) The Coupe's exhaust midpipe/resonator assembly fits the Sedan. Observations to be verified - ECU programs - Sedans w/Auto Trans detuned. Others various states of tune. The Sedan's exhaust system's midpipe resonator is much larger and more restrictive the Coupe's. The Sedan's muffler may be more restrictive than the Coupes. The Coupe and 350Z muffler may be the same. Manufacturer's claims - (Indicate when independently verified) AEM CAI - Sedan ?HP - Torque ?ft/lbs, Coupe 10HP - Torque ?ft/lbs Injen CAI - Sedan ?HP - Torque ?ft/lbs, Coupe ?HP - Torque ?ft/lbs Stillen FAI - Sedan 11HP, Torque ?ft/lbs, Coupe 5HP - Torque ?ft/lbs Injen Catback Exhaust - Sedan N/A, Coupe ?HP - Torque ?ft/lbs Greddy Catback Exhaust - Sedan N/A, Coupe ?HP - Torque ?ft/lbs Borla Catback Exhaust - Sedan N/A, Coupe ?HP - Torque ?ft/lbs Stillen Catback Exhaust - Sedan N/A, Coupe ?HP - Torque ?ft/lbs TechnoSquare ECU Mod - Sedan N/A Auto Trans - Sedan N/A Manual Trans - Coupe ?HP - Torque ?ft/lbs Auto Trans - Coupe ?HP - Torque ?ft/lbs Manual Trans Jim Wolf Technology - Sedan N/A, Coupe N/A GG ![]() |
