Karma
I used to be a Mazda MX6 owner and frequented MX6.com. Now with my new G35 I am on this site all the time.
One thing I really liked about MX6.com was the concept of karma. This is where other members give karma points to members who post good responses (in case you don't know). The longer you were a board member and the greater your number of posts lead to your karma being worth more. How come G35driver never got on board with this concept? BTW - I did try searching for karma in this forum and came up with no hits.

not to go off topic on you. I had an MX6 when I was younger and that car had the best cup holder in the history of cars. Since then both cars Ive had, my 240sx which had no cup holder and my G which is under the arm rest, suck. I wish Nissan would have had a similar set up as the MX6. That cup holder kept your ice coffee cold in the summer with the ac vent right there
As far as karma. Its a bitch and I dont do stupid things because of it. I fear and respect it. lol

The mx6 cupholder was okay, but it only fit one size of drink (ie. a pop can).
If you want cupholders by a toyota sienna (or really any van). God damn they have cupholders for everyone to have like 2 drinks at once! Back to the karma discussion - anyone else have any more thoughts?

What is it? (The forum feature, not the word) How does it work? Why do we need it? Are you holding your breath? (I wouldn't, change is not adopted quickly here)

I go on another forum (fireblades.org) and they have the same kind of concept, they call it rep points but its the same thing. I noticed that they are voting to either keep it or drop it. either way, no big deal to me...

I'm not holding my breath... I was a long time member of MX6.com prior to my mx6 going to car heaven, and liked and disliked certain parts of the board. Karma was one particular aspect that I really appreciated as did many others. Karma is allotted by one member to another for a post that is particularly useful. The longer you are a member of the board as well as how many posts you have placed can increase the amount of karma points you can administer. You can only give so much karma per day. As well, giving karma is also restricted to certain parts of the site (ie. can't give karma in a marketplace thread). Your total karma score is available for all to see, and gives a good indication of how useful a person's posts have been in the past. It also provides a nice little extra pat on the back when you spend the time to do a long post or DIY. Although I realize satisfaction is gleaned merely from giving back to a board like this, it is also nice to know when someone really takes something from your posts. An additional caveat that was chosen for the karma system on mx6.com was that a person who scored a very high level of karma would become a "supporter" meaning that they were able to have the benefits of a premier account. Understand that accumulating this level of karma generally takes around 5 years of major site involvement (ie. it does not come easily). And even then, I believe the staff owner (Scooby is his handle) can opt to allow or not allow a person this benefit. Here is a post on MX6.com from the owner re a karma update in case you are interested. http://www.mx6.com/forums/site-quest...ma-thread.html Please understand that I love G35driver for what it is, but always look to propose value-added aspects of any activity in which I am involved.
