Omega Watch Purchase

Hi All,

Contemplating my next watch purchase.

It's down to Omega and Probably Planet Ocean... Black face, steel bracelet...
The non Chronograph version retails in Vancouver Canada for $4500 minus a 20% discount that I seem to be able to get from most stores...not sure about the price on the Chronograph version (any ideas?)...

Couple questions...what price is this watch in the states? How much of a discount can you usually get in the states. Any feedback on these models? I actually like quite a few of the Omega designs, it's was tough to narrow it down to these...

I would not buy a watch for 4500!!! Its your choice but why dont you look at some Swiss made replica watches, you wont be able to tell the diffrence and they only cost 500-1000 for the AAA rate Swiss made replicas. GL

Very very good reply. No one should encourage the purchase of a fake watch. If you can't afford a real one, don't walk around fooling people. The only person you are fooling is yourself, and it says a lot about your personality. Whenever I a fake, I love to embarrass the owner in front of everybody.

Omega is a great choice. Have you looked at the Deville line? Planet Ocean is nice, but almost everyone in the neighborhood has one. The new Hour Vision is to die for.

Here is the link to Omega web site. Check out all the models and find one you like.

That's where you are wrong. Fakes are very easy to identify. They only fool people who don't know squat about watches. Fakes fall apart in no time, you may get lucky and it runs for a year, or it stops in a week.

For $500, you can get a very nice Seiko Monster, or Citizen EcoDrive.

Buying a fake watch is like masturbation, you may have the satisfaction but at the end you are still f&^king yourself. Try to travel with a fake watch and see what happens when you get caught going through Custom. Surprise!!

Is that the right price, $4500 CDN? Most of the places online show that the non-chronograph to be in the neighbourhood of $2400 USD and the chronograph to be around $4500USD. When I got my Seamaster two years ago it was around $2000CDN and the chronograph version was $4500CDN this was down town Toronto.

I am wondering how these guys can sell fake watches online, isnt that illegal? ... i dont wear watches since i use my cell for that, and i am not a fan (but i am not saying others should not wear them)

I agree with the posters that say that fake = BS.... it should be genuine or ur just "f**king urself"

I think most online dealers are selling non-warranty, possible non-serialized versions (hence the low price)...I know that Omega doesn't allow authorized sales on the internet so this price seems somewhat suspicious...
As for the $2000 for the seamaster...not sure...was yours the automatic or quartz version...All 3 locations that I have visited so far have the exact same msrp (which doesn't say much, it's still a lot of cash)
I'm looking into a line on an authorized dealer in the states that'll give a 30% discount on the US price, so all I'll pay on top will be Canadian taxes and duty...hopefully it will still be a deal.

The hour vision is a good looking watch isn't it?
I've also got this thing for the Speedmaster Moonwatch but the manual winding is kind of putting me off, great looking timepiece though...

Most on-line dealers are selling grey market merchandise, which most likely have the serial number filed off.

One suggestion that may saves you some money is to locate an AD in the States, drive down from Canada and purchase it here. Since you are not U.S. Citizen, you don't have to pay sales tax. All you have to do is to pay for shipping the box back to Canada (around $20). Since you purchased the watch in the U.S., technically you don't have to pay Canadian sales tax either. Without the box, going through Custom should pose no problem as they cannot prove that you did not already own the watch before you "visit" the U.S.

I always purchase my watches from different States to avoid paying sales tax. Most of my purchases were made during my business trips. I just have the AD ship the box to my house while I wear the watch off the store. Saves me hundreds of dollars on top of the discount I negotiate.

Most Omega AD only gives 15% off, tops. So if you get 20% -25%, you are doing good. Great if you get 30% but with the weak U.S. dollars, don't bank on it.

If you don't mind a slightly used watch, visit the Sales Corner of TimeZone.com. It is the safest place to buy a pre-own watch. You can get up to 60% off MSRP.

Ah dude, you dont really look at it that way? Why not buy a Lada with a G35 body kit on it? You can get it for the fraction on the price...can't even tell the difference!

Excellent purchase. The next watch I buy will be an Omega. I'm planning on the blue face to replace my Movado with a blue face which has gotten rather scratched up over the years.
