Subwoofers

I splurged tonight and upgraded my sub to a Velodyne DD-12. It was much more than I wanted to originally spend, but you get what you pay for when it comes to audio gear. I watched The Bank Job on Blu ray tonight and man o man, this thing has some punch. I thought my previous sub sounded good, but this Velodyne sounds absolutely spectacular. I had my daughter all week so my wife gave me some time by myself and they went out for the night. This gave me a really good chance to test this puppy. I'm very impressed. Anyone else here running a Velodyne sub?

Great move!!!

I also have a Velodyne, the SPL-1200MKII. It's a 1000w 12" sub and it's amazing how much of a difference a kickazz sub can make.

^ Sweet, I am sure you agree that a great quality sub makes all of the difference when watching a move or listening to music. This is actually my first Velodyne purchase, but from what I've read it's one of the best out there for subs.

LOL, Shane, it's funny how we do that huh, I'm guilty myself! What do you have for a Blu-ray player? I think maybe you have a PS3 right? I just bought a Sony Blu-ray player, and am looking forward to watching one, still waiting for a switcher though since my TV has only one HDMI, sorry to get off topic! Enjoy you're splurge! LOL, did they come home??

Yep you're correct Tom, I have a PS3 as my Blu ray player. My PS3 is my entire media entertainment system now.

And yes, they came home a few minutes before the movie ended.......but I still kept it loud until the finish.

Yeah, I researched the crap out of it before I made my purchase. My philosophy on big ticket items, especially electronics, is to spend the money up front and never regret your choice. I can't tell you how many people I know who skimp on something just for the sake of making the purchase, and then within a matter of a couple of months, they realize they should have spent a little more and not had these regrets.

LOL, glad it's that good! You don't have any real close neighbors do you?

After watching a couple of movies and listening to some tunes with my new Velodyne, I am COMPLETELY sold on this brand. I am glad I paid the hefty price for this sub, it really makes the listening experience sooooo much better.

The funny thing is that this is the one component of the home theater that the vast majority of folks pay the least attention to.

Try watching Jurassic Park...when they first hear the dinosaur steps...awesome.

Anything with the THX intro sequence...I'll sit there and repeat it at least 5 times with the biggest grin on my face. It NEVER gets old

If you want to put your subwoofer through a workout try the Lord of the Rings trilogy. In The Fellowship of the Ring when they were stuck in the mines my bass would hit so hard it would rattle my projector and the screen would start to shake.

Another demo I like is Transformers when Ironhide uses his canon's to boost him up....earth shattering

btw...love the Velodyne great sub!!
