If your dad isn't home but you're "nearby" his 226, there's a possibility you're in violation of state or federal law by being in possession of the handgun.

If you're under 21, there's a likelihood you're a little "small", and might not be the best framed individual for a pump-action scattergun. Beretta's semi's DRASTICALLY reduce recoil. Check into them.

I was shooting a 12ga from the time I was 8.

Remington 870 "Homedefender" with 9 shot magazine tube. Easy to use and you never have to fire it.

Why, you ask?

Just the sound of you racking a shell into the chamber will send them fleeing.

I was referring to their semi shotgun's inertia system. But they make good pistolas too.

HK USP .40 and a Sig Sauer P220 .45, both with spare mags and loaded with Remington Golden Sabers (did some research, they have good stopping power).

A couple of the folks (Canadians, which jibes with the worst movie I've ever seen, Bowling for Columbine) have asked why? Fair enough, there are different perspectives around the world.

But my answer is because I live in a big American city. Do I think our home will be invaded? No, the odds are against it. But the odds also aren't zero, and my job is to protect my family.

What is the formula for calculating "stopping power"? What units is "stopping power" measured in?

Keeping a gun in a car is foolish.

First, it's just BEGGING to be stolen. Legal or otherwise, like open carry, keeping guns in cars is just a poor decision. If for no reason other than: they're too damn expensive to replace if stolen!

Second, it's hardly accessible. The center console isn't so bad, but the glove boxes are just useless places to keep them.
One night on my way home from work, I didn't have a belt that fit my jeans. So I just tossed my holstered gun in the upper glove box for the ride home. I was at a drive-thru getting some food and was startled by two sketchy looking dudes walking past my passenger side from rear to front. I looked at my glove compartment and realized I could NEVER produce a gun from there quick enough for it to be useful. From now on, it it's not on my belt for whatever reason, it's stuffed under one of my legs.

Ok, let me rephrase, what do you keep on you and leave in between seats when in car, yes, it's on my shoulder holster most of the time along with others, and am always cognizant of vehicle being locked, etc. When you need one it will be readily available to me, don't ya know!
