Attn California: Mail Order Ammo Ban At the Governor's Desk

Quote:
AB962 Mail order Ammo Ban passed the Assembly (44 Yes - 31 No). The bill now goes to the Governor's desk. In order for AB962 to NOT become law, the Governor must actively veto the bill within 30 days. Please contact the Governor's office and urge a veto of AB 962.

Why should I urge a veto?

You, personally? I have no idea, why. I don't know you.

However, for those who target shoot, hunt, and/or own guns for self-defense, ammo by mail is usually cheaper and of much greater variety.

Yeah, I just wanted him to make his case, instead of just posting and taking the easy way out. I'm all for a strong 2nd amendment, and for exactly the reason you stated, among others.

See what happens when you elect a cool, bad-azz barely-speaking-English movie star?

What about the one he veto'd at the same time? Going to give that any press? This is much bigger PITA for the dealers than the end users.

This is awful legislation, which like all other anti-2nd amendment laws will have zero effect on crime. However, the law doesn't take effect until Feb 2011, so you've got plenty of time to shop and stock up - I know I will be.

It's not all doom-&-gloom yet, the Calguns foundation and others are challenging (or will challenge) this law in court, so we'll see what happens.

Exactly. The Calguns group is a smart bunch. I think they have a chance of winning in court. Definitely all is not lost yet.

Yup, and furthermore, Assemblyman Curt Hagman (R-Chino Hills) has introduced AB373 which will repeal AB962.

It's a nice gesture, but zero-chance of it passing.

An initiative would be nice (but expensive).

Edited to add: The above is just daydreaming. Winning in court would be simpler and cheaper.
