Gun Carrying Rights????

Correct me if I am wrong, but as US citizens we have the right to carry our pistol, holstered anywhere we want, as long as the building or property is posted no guns, correct????

I am not asking about carrying concealed, I am meaning just to have the gun in a waist or shoulder holster in plain view to anyone.

Am I right on that???

Only in certain states like Arizona. Most states prohibit "open carry".

Arizona has certain restrictions, like you cant carry it into a bar or place that serves alcohol for consumption, but other than small stuff like that you can carry it unless they have a sign, or unless an employee asks you to put it away.

Carrying a firearm in many states is carrying, whether visible or concealed. Some stated prohibit carrying openly, and some have lower standards for open carry compared to concealed.

Additionally, each state has limits on where a person can carry. In a southern state, one can not carry if the establishment generates 51% or more of their revenue from on-premise consumption of alcohol. In Mass, one can not carry in a school or while "intoxicated" by liquor. Many federal buildings are off-limits to civilian firearms.

It varies from state to state.

You're getting into a 200+ year debate over 2A rights that will continue long after your guns and mine are rusted and worthless.

Virginia is open carry as long as its not federal property, a bank, or anywhere that sells alcohol. Also you forfeit that right if you are a convicted felon. I would watch the shoulder harness concept because if it hides the gun technically it is concealed and its officer disgression if he doesnt see it because its in your armpit it doesnt matter if you have the straps showing.

Like others have said, it's on a state by state basis. For example, in CA, you can legally open carry - however, the firearm has to be unloaded, with no mag in the mag well (or if a revolver, then no rounds in it). Also, all magazines and moon clips must be carried openly as well otherwise it's considered a concealed weapon and you're guilty of a crime (doesn't matter if the mag in your pocket is completely empty).
