Is the G inherently slow... even at 400WHP?

The title of this post really summarizes my question, but to give you a little more detail...

I used to own a turbocharged IS300 that was done by Toyomoto in Miami and at low boost (i.e. 14 psi) I made ~400 WHP on a DynoJet. At that level I was easily pulling on 700cc bikes from a 60 roll (not condoning street racing, but just as a point of reference). At the track, I was easily hitting low 12s on street tires.

Now, let's look at the G35... I've seen alot of posts on Youtube where G35s claiming 400+ to the wheels are barely pulling on cars like E46 M3s and maybe running high 12s in the 1/4.

There is not a significant weight difference between the IS300 and the G35c, so why does the G35 seem so much slower even with the same power?

Am I missing something? I hope so, because if I'm not missing anythinig then I'm really discouraged from going F/I.

Thanks.

I can't speak for your IS, but a 400whp g35 should be running mid-low 12's...traction is the key, not to mention wheel size and weight...

I wouldn't say it's "slow," but in a 3,600 lb car, not including the driver, it leaves much to be desired...once you've driven it for a while, it's really not that impressive...400whp doesn't do a thing for me anymore can't wait to get the new tranny and bump up the boost

You can't compare other times to yours coz they may have done it on a slow track, 90Cdeg temp + Humid, driver...etc. I say you drive it and compare that to your old time assuming conditions are the same.

I am running 13.2 on street tire, with ~300 whp.

If I have 400whp, I'd be in the 11". I think most
>400whp guys didn't have adequate traction. With AWD, traction
is not an issue on mine.

Ok I agree about the weight but at highway speeds the weight does not become much of an issue. How does it pull at highway speeds (i.e. from 60+)?

it pulls like a raped ape Go on streetfire and find videos of the speedometer of people doing 60-120 pulls...or better yet, find someone with a turbo G and ask for a ride

Don't get me wrong, it's fast...I eat M3's for lunch, but I guess I just got used to it

As a reference to the M3 rumor you hear of, I pull M3's daily and I am only n/a right now (not for long though ). M3's only run mid 13's at best with a professional driver, a 400rwhp g35c would annihilate an M3.

+1 I even beat M3's with just 4.5psi (305whp)

Maybe so, I would trust the responses you get on this board besides from someone that doesn't have any personal experience with a G35 . A 400rwhp is not slow by any means, don't be discouraged to go FI with your G .

Yeah, the rumor of FI G35s hardly pulling on M3's is kind of out of wack. I run head to head with M3s (they take half a car by 100mph) and i basically only have a intake and exhaust with a tune.

I know the stillen stage 1 SC is a load of crap for our cars - and still runs mid to low 13s, but any other application with a decent tune is going to run mid 11s to mid 12s depending on boost.
