Is the G inherently slow... even at 400WHP?

Is the G inherently slow... even at 400WHP?
The title of this post really summarizes my question, but to give you a little more detail...
I used to own a turbocharged IS300 that was done by Toyomoto in Miami and at low boost (i.e. 14 psi) I made ~400 WHP on a DynoJet. At that level I was easily pulling on 700cc bikes from a 60 roll (not condoning street racing, but just as a point of reference). At the track, I was easily hitting low 12s on street tires.
Now, let's look at the G35... I've seen alot of posts on Youtube where G35s claiming 400+ to the wheels are barely pulling on cars like E46 M3s and maybe running high 12s in the 1/4.
There is not a significant weight difference between the IS300 and the G35c, so why does the G35 seem so much slower even with the same power?
Am I missing something? I hope so, because if I'm not missing anythinig then I'm really discouraged from going F/I.
Thanks.

Don't get me wrong, it's fast...I eat M3's for lunch, but I guess I just got used to it

Yeah, the rumor of FI G35s hardly pulling on M3's is kind of out of wack. I run head to head with M3s (they take half a car by 100mph) and i basically only have a intake and exhaust with a tune.
I know the stillen stage 1 SC is a load of crap for our cars - and still runs mid to low 13s, but any other application with a decent tune is going to run mid 11s to mid 12s depending on boost.
