Coolant Eliminator Kit by DM2 Motorsport

I had this done last week courtesy of Mike and DM2 Motorsport , going to put it on soon.

This removes a crap load of lines and clutter from the engine bay making more room for useful stuff. It removes the Oil warmer line circuit, throttle body warmer line circuit, radiator bypass line, and thermostat bypass in one swoop.

I'm curious about this since I'm doing custom mods to my coolant system. Removing unnecessary stuff is good but is not all this stuff good/necessary and beneficial to ones engine?

I've had mine liek this to a couple months now....and have had no isuues.

coolant temps are the same.

You're removing 4 unnecessary lines.

The oil cooler line, this is the small line that connects to the thermostat goes to the sandwich plate by the oil filter and up under the passenger side pipe. This has the most junk that comes with it, a hard pipe that runs underneath the compressor and a bunch of hose. It is "supposed" to cool your oil. Seems to me it heats the oil more than it cools. HR motors do not have this anymore.

The radiator/therm bypass line, the one that goes across the front of the motor, this is where your water circulates when your thermostat is not open. Helps your motor warm up quicker, but living in Florida, pointless to me.

The throttlebody warmer, being in Florida again this line is irrelevant, if anything its heating up my IAT's. Its the one that people usually just take off the manifold and connect together using a small fitting that sells for like 20 bucks for a fitting you could buy at home depot for less than 2 dollars.

And the last useless line is the rear bypass line, its on the rear coolant pipe, comes off and goes to the small port connected to the heater feed line. Does absolutely nothing, not connected to any sensors, doesn't warm or cool anything.

Even if I don't use the freed up space from losing all the clutter, its just less places where stuff can leak so its a good mod in my book.

Curious follow up

Your first post you used the term "Oil warmer line circuit" then it looks like you called it an oil cooler in your second post. Does it perform both...more rapid heat up at start than cooling during normal ops? I'm having some custom fabrication performed on my cooling stm but if things/stuff are not necessary I also favor eliminating them.

The Inf. dealer master tech stated that the big line that goes across the front of the engine helps bleed air out of the system? You call this a radiator thermal bypass? Any idea if this helps purge the system?

My car has GReddy's Radiator Breather Tank...no one not even GReddy tech support seems to know how this works or can really explain how to properly install it.

Who and where is DM2 Motorsports?

Technically oil cooler is what the service manual says, however in cold weather at startup it does aid in warming the oil. My oil temp is lower than the water temp under normal conditions so that would defeat the cooling part of it....

The radiator/thermostat bypass line helps purge the system as much as any of the other lines do.... nothing. If anything, removing this line makes for one less place where air can be trapped. Your thermostat should be open when your car is at its operating temperatures, and before then an adequate amount of coolant is feed to the engine by the heater line on the driver side anyways. The only line that truely helps purge the system is the heater hose feed on the passenger side with the air bleeder valve.

The Greddy Rad. Breather tank is really only for race engines that see some pretty extreme temps and lots of expansion, I doubt it would even be of much use in a normal car. More of a bling mod in normal cars than anything else.... thats why we have a coolant overflow tank...

really appreciate your help...how do you learn all this stuff (dumb question)...

I have talked to so many people (including GReddy, HKS...) about my car and there are so many opinions (and lack of knowledge)...

The GReddy tank was installed by SGP...I have a bigger radiator & only ~ 400 whp why would they do this?

This is my dilemma with much (all) of the work done on my car...I can't get straight answers and the car is very modified. I'm finding that the quality of work performed is so bad I'm basically tearing the car apart and redoing it myself. I do need help since this is my first FI car. The people/shops I have paid won't return my calls- blah, blah, blah...it frustrating.

You won't find many people who have done this........

I did a write up on my350z.com months ago....and the thread is still going. You can find most of the info on this mod over there. It doesn't take any custom parts to make this mod. All it takes is someone to do some welding on your factory tubes. The OP has his powder coated gold. When I did mine, I powdercoated min on gloss black.

You don't have to do it if you don't want to.....but it covers up the welding/grinding.

if you are in Georgia, why not pay Shariff a visit over at Forged Performance. Even if you decide to do some of the repairs yourself, he can at least guide you in the right direction
