Inspired by the 2009 Essence concept car from the Geneva Motor Show, the 2011 Infiniti M sedan makes its world debut next week at the 2009 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance.
Today, Infiniti released this silhouette sketch of the new sedan, which arrives next year in showrooms and in production form sometime later this year, possibly at the 2009 Tokyo Motor Show.
The new Infiniti M will have a unique introduction to the media: instead of preparing a full clay-body concept or a running prototype, Nissan/Infiniti chief designer Shiro Nakamura and his team will project an image of the new car on a styro-form, giving journalists a virtual vision of the new sedan.
Few details of the new 2011 M sedan are confirmed; direct-injection engines are certain for production, while a hybrid is considered very likely, since Infiniti showed one on the Essence concept. The hybrid concept powertrain sported some interesting spins on the technology: a parallel system, it used a twin-turbo 3.7-liter V-6 running in parallel with lithium-ion batteries and electric motors to produce more than 430 hp.
Probably not headed for production, unless you have a serious "in" in Paris: custom-fitted Louis Vuitton luggage, as shown in the Essence concept.
Joining the 2011 Infiniti M at Pebble Beach? The 2010 Jaguar XJ, 2010 Porsche Panamera, 2011 Bentley sedan, and much more.
