Infiniti M56 horsepower prediction?
What do you all predict the horsepower of the new 5.6L DI VVEL is going to be?
IIRC, I remember reading that the upcoming VQ37VHL with DI will get somewhere in the neighborhood of 350HP. That is about 94.6 HP/Liter.
The non DI Nismo 370Z VQ37VHL already makes 350HP.
The FX50's VK50VE makes around 78 HP/L without DI.
If the new 5.6 makes anywhere close to 80 HP/L or even a little more, that puts it close to the 450HP range. Imagine if it made closer to 90 HP/L!
Oh yeah, I forgot, the Nismo VK56DE for FIA GT1 racing makes 600 HP and 479 LB.FT, so it has huge potential.
One can dream right?

I'm thinking that they'll make it 370-380. This engine is kinda Nissan's lazy, low revving V8. I'm actually surprised they didn't just put in the VK50VE. That engine is already a good tune away from 400hp.

I found a google reference that says 420 bhp, though I'm not sure if that is fact or fiction. Infiniti only said "more than 400hp", so the real question is how much more. The thing I'm really surprised by is no turbo version. This thing had better be well under 5.0secs 0-60.

So, how does 429 HP sound?
I was lucky enough to participate in an early focus group last year and got to see full scale models of this car in person. At that time I owned an 07' G35x just so you can understand my opinion.
When I walked into the section of the room that had the cars in it, they had this car lined up against the Lexus GS, BMW 5-Series, and Mercedes-Benz E-Class. I literally stopped dead in my tracks when I saw the M. My first thought was it was a G on steroids. I love the G lines, they just ooze power and performance.
This car doesn't look bad from any angle. They made us comment from at least 6 different viewpoints around the car. It drips muscle and luxury from everywhere. The other cars just didn't hold candle to this model.
The one thing I can't stand about the older Infiniti's is the interior. Just doesn't stand up to the exterior styling. Having sat in an interior mock-up, it addressed just about all of my issues. Their attention to detail even went down to the level of the interior door handles. The signature clock is even mother of pearl. It oozes luxury inside.
The V8 will be about 429 HP if they hold true to what they told us on the V8 focus group. They even had a hybrid group so that might be coming down the road. There will be some really cool tech coming in as options that will rival the new toys on the E-Class.
The current Japanese car owners all went nuts, the Euro car owners were mixed. I have to say that when they come out with the AWD M56x I will probably be first in line.

I found this info posted by a member on another car site:
It's not confirmed so take it for what it is.
I work for Infiniti, the next generation M will NOT have the QX56/Titan engine, it’s actually going to have a bored and stroked version of the FX50 engine, so it’s going to have the Vvel and all of the other goodies that engine has.

To quote from the white paper:
...this engine achieves top-level driving comfort in its class as a result of being derived from the VK45DE engine that was developed for use on a sporty luxury sedan.

The 5.0L and 5.6L are both based on the 4.5L in the current M45. So you can't say "It's going to be a bored and stroked version of the 5.0" Since the 5.6 came first you could saay the 5.0 is a downsized version of the 5.6. You can read about the development of the current 5.6L here.
