if you google the infiniti "essence" concept, the new g3x will have a design based heavily on it. its also been rumored that infiniti will team up with AMG for motors in future cars, not too sure on the time frame of it, but that could also affect the new model.

Drove a G37x coupe recently - it was too similar to my 06 coupe - and heavier. Infiniti really needs to revise the G coupe platform to keep interest. They really nailed it with the M series and the M35h.

You should of driven the RWD model its lighter, of course you had to go test drive a heavy 3900LBs X (All WHEEL DRIVE) Model.

Yea, I will try to drive an IPL or an S coupe too.
Unfortunately if you look at the specs, ALL the coupe models are heaver than the 2003-2007 generation with equivalent drivetrain/transmission.

I'm spoiled with my lightweight 6MT coupe.

If you want a lightweight PERFORMANCE coupe, I'd buy a REAL sports car. (Corvette= 3200lb/400hp+++)
The accommodation that the AWD and 4 doors provide is the ONLY reason I bought an Infiniti.

We'll see if they actually come out with a new G this year. It's been long enough (since 03) on the current FM platform.

Would really enjoy something different: take the GT-R drivetrain and put it in the G platform. Maybe with just a 3.8 NA motor instead of the TT for around 350-375hp.

Yeah they should give the G what everyone wants, and that is a bigger motor and more power. Staying true to its sports car ways. With latest weight gain, theirs no reason we can't have a 4l-4.5l 400hp G out, and a dual-clutch trans wouldn't be bad either

If not more power than cut the weight by 200lbs or so. A G37 coupe IPL weighs 100lbs less than a Nissan GT-R and the G37x coupe weighs the same!

2-piece brakes and forged wheels would shave a bit and then try to lighten the seats.

I think you should keep your urban legends to yourself and try removing your head from your anus.

I've owned new Corvettes for the last 12 years. Supercharged 9 second Mustangs for 5 years before that.
You won't find a sports car that is more reliable than the C5/C6 Corvette, holds it's value better, or will beat it, Stock vs Stock or Modified vs Modified.

Yest, the GTR is awesome, and I want one. But, the GTR wasn't worth $70k in 2009, and it sure as hell isn't worth $90k+ in 2012.

Definitely with TT C6 on this one. I'd trust a Vette to stay running day after day, more like a normal street car.

Or... you buy yourself a used Miata/MX-5, stuff a Vette motor in that, and voila. 400HP+, 2600 lbs.
