If these use the same awd system you won't gain much as the car is rwd first and awd 2nd. So if you aren't slipping the rears, you won't be in awd mode.

Acutally I take that back. Regardless of if this system is FWD or RWD based, disabling the awd system probably won't net you jack.
Exactly on what technical basis do you think this would help?

You'll gain next to no fuel economy advantage whatsoever. ATTESA on the G or FX is only engaged when it senses traction loss......so other than slippery driving in snow or rain, it is going to operate in a RWD mode all the time anyways.

Yup. If anything the added weight of the AWD components probably do just as much if not more to kill your fuel economy more than anything else since the ATTESA ET-S system is primarily RWD until slip at the rears is detected. |

Why don't you just get the RWD version and stop trying to remove fuses to save 1 mpg?

+1 on this. Mr. Igor most of the poor fuel economy comes from the VQ itself and the huge weight of an SUV and the AWD system itself. As already said the tiny amount of time the front gears/center diff is engaged would make virtually no difference to your fuel economy. |

Maybe you are looking at the wrong vehicle if fuel costs are a major concern. AWD or RWD, the FX35 is going to peg you somewhere in the 18mpg (maaaaybe) in mixed driving. I drive and hour to and from work everyday on straight, flat roads. I use the cruise control all of the time and I'm only mustering 20.4 mpg. 4,300 pounds + VQ engine = less than average gas mileage. Just a thought.
