G35c ----> Fx35

Hi there.

Later this year, I am looking to transition to a 2006+ FX35 from my 2003 G35 coupe. We have some kidlets on the way (note plural).

Over the past couple of years, I have invested in a few bolt-ons, and I am curious what makes sense to bolt onto the new ride:
  • Z Tube
  • Stillen Intake
  • Crawford Plenum
  • Stillen Grounding Kit
  • Crawford High Flow Cats
  • HKS Cat-Back Exhaust
  • Eibach Springs
  • Stillen Sway Bars
  • OEM 19" Wheels
  • Osiris Chip

Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks!

Kidlets.... I like that. Will tell my wife about the new term.

The exhaust could fit, but you might be better off selling it since the rear overhang of the FX bumper is the big difference between the G and FX exhausts.

Springs, no bueno

OEM 19s not really gonna work with the tires out there.

Not sure if osiris flash can be done on the FX. I'm sure it's possible since Cipher reads the FX ecus as well.

Buy the FX I've enjoyed have a G35 sedan and FX35! Like Rookie said the rims won't work they too narrow and you could sell the exhaust and get one better suited for the FX

Congrats on the kid....lets And congrats on the FX. I'm sure you'll find they are fun things to drive, feels less like a SUV and more like a sports car.

If you still have the stock parts to swap out, I'd say why not install your mods on the FX.

Z-tube - Yes
Stillen intake - Yes
Crawford plenum - Yes
Stillen grounding - Yes
Crawford cats - not sure
HKS exhaust - would need some modification as Rookie stated (extention to the outlets, etc)
Eibach springs - No
Stillen sways - not sure
OEM 19" wheels - no, but you can sell them for good money on this forum (I know, I bought a pair for our 03 sedan).
Osiris chip - hmm, this ones over my head.

I'd also suggest getting a strut bar (Stillen, NRG) for the FX, it will stiffen up the chassis flex and improve handling.

Great feedback so far. Thanks!

One other thing I was thinking about: For the Crawford plenum, will it matter if my car has the "non-REV up" engine whereas I believe newer VQ's, such as a 2006 FX35 have the "REV up?"

Cheers!

No rev up has ever left the factory mated to a 5AT. All the FX35s out there are DE motors.

Thanks, Rookie. Good point.

And that triggered me to think of something else: If I have 3.5 VLSD pumpkin installed on my car (that was taken from a 6MT).

Would I be able to port that over, or would it not work on an AWD FX35?

I like to plan ahead as you folks may be able to gather.

RWD FXs come with 3.3FD, AWD FXs come with 3.7FDs. No need to save the pumpkin for the the FX.
