Georgia
NO / 32% Net / 32% Net / 32% Net / 2005
Note : New law went into effect that can be enforced on out of state vehicles as well as Georgia registered vehicles. Penalty is up to $1000 and/or 12 months in jail as a misdemeanor.
On Jun 8, 2004, the Georgia Surpreme Court threw out GA's tint law since it discriminated against GA residents by not applying to non-residents. Look for the non-resident exemption to be repealed next year which would reinstate the tint law.
This can have ramifications for other states who exempt non-residents from their tint laws. Legislation was sponsored in the 2004 session to remove the non-resident exemption but failed to pass.
so does this mean i can GO TO JAIL for this??? wow wow wow wow wow wow wow wow wow wow wow wow wow wow wow wow wow wow wow

I wish someone would explain to me why i can drive around in an SUV with 20% tint and it's perfectly legal, but in a car it would be illegal here.
In an SUV, i can be aiming a rocket launcher at the cop and he would never know it. I just think it's not a proper low if a dodge magnum can come off the assembly line with blacked out windows since it's considered a MPV and yet some states only allow 70% tint on POV's (which is factory tint)

Well i can totally understand police safety. But what i don't understand is that SUV's come factory like that and it's legal in all 50 states, but cars have varying laws.
Granted, i don't think anyone should ride around with 3% tint on all windows including the windshield....

There is no car, SUV or no, that comes with 20% tint on the the FRONT windows in OEM trim. That does not count aftermarket suppliers.

I know. I thought it was kinda obvious. I was referring to the rear windows. Most OEM windows on pretty much all SUV's and minivans is darker than a lot of tint laws would allow on any vehicle not equipped by the factory for the rear. They are something like 20-30% VLT.
I'm not saying i want 5% tint all around. I think that's too dark myself. I'm all for police safety don't get me wrong. Walk up behind an SUV and a darkly tinted car at night and put yourself in the cops shoes. I'd crap my pants too. It's just not fair to those living in states with extremely light tint laws (50% or 70% VLT) or states with NO tint allowed on a passenger car (RI and NY). A gangbanger in an escalade can have his buddy in the backseat with a gun and a cop would never see him though the dark factory LEGAL tint, but if you toss 50% tint on the back windows of a car, you could get a ticket in some states. 50% is very light tint.

Does anybody have any idea what a "Medical Exception" would be? I've been meaning to set up an appointment with a dermatologist and tell her I want to protect myself from skin cancer... Then I had the idea of going to a shrink and telling them I'm xenophobic, but I feel like that would lead to her asking me more questions about my childhood.
anybody have a medical exception?

So i went to the optometrist today and i got a prescription for "stage 4 darkening on sunglasses" i kept asking for him to specify car window but he said in order for that there had to be a pathology for it and there was non for window tints.
Anybody know if this will fly with a cop?

I've had my 35% tint on my driver/passenger windows for 5 years without being stopped, I do however keep my sunroof shade open which allows more light inside my G....I think that helps....
