G35 coupe maintenance

Hi everyone,

I'm new to the forum and am 98% sure I'm picking up a 03 G35 coupe with 80,000 miles this weekend. What have your maintenance costs been like and how have they compared to your past cars?

do the work yourself!!! its mainly going to be oil changes - but when you do take it to a dealership once a year for "service" you're looking at like $500-$700 depending on what you do - save some cash, find a buddy who will teach you how to maintain your car yourself -

that's a lot of miles

WOW 80k?

I hope you are getting the car for less than 10K

If not save some money and get the car you want, you will be better off in the long run.

yeah, 80k is a lot of miles for an 03. The piece of mind I have is that it's dealership maintained and he has all the service records. What do you guys think? Price right now is 13k. 5at, 18", body and interior are in good condition. Only thing is that it needs new rear tires. I saw in another thread someone got a 03 with 90K+ for 13700 so i thought 13k is a fair price.

Could you give me your reasoning? I'm not trying to argue but from the research I've done, G35's are pretty reliable and durable. Maybe you're seeing something I don't. I had a friend who's G was up to 140+k before he totaled it. Only thing major he had to replace (besides normal wear and tear items) is the center radio/ac unit which I understand to be a common problem. Thanks for your input.

I say its not a bad deal and that 80k miles is not many miles at all. 2009's will be out soon which basically means the car is 6 years old. That only 13k a year. Also I have never seen a g35 for less than $13,000 unless it was wrecked and needed to be fixed. I say go for it.

Blue book's $13,000 - $15,000 (Private Party), so you're getting the low price of the spectrum. I say go for it. Just make sure it has a clean title. Run a carfax report as well. Have fun!

Wow, you guys have a lot of miles. Yeah I originally didn't post it in here because I had a different thread about if it was a good deal or not. But, the car does have a clean title, is dealership maintained and has service records. (So I'm pretty sure all recall items have been addressed).

there's nothing wrong with an 03 with 80k miles

cars are meant to be driven...not stored and looked at

besides...that just means the guy averaged 16k miles per year which is nothing

You will need to get used to filling up the gas tank. I got my 04 6mt coupe last month for 15K with 77K miles. As much as I love this car... It drinks gas. I get typically 15 miles per gallon and as you know it craves premium at 4.17 per gallon.

I'm planning on keeping the car for about 5-6 years.

About the gas, they got Prius' for that. Nah, but seriously, I've wanted a G35 ever since they first came out, and when the deal came along, I had to grab it. I've never driven a car I loved, so if thats the price I have to pay, I'm willing to cough it up.

An update about the sale, the seller just informed me that theres actually another 20,000 miles or 2 years left on the extended warranty (runs through '10) so that gives me some piece of mind.
