Infiniti's Self-healing paint
When I first heard about this..I was like
How can I get that for my car? Does anybody have first-hand experience with this new paint feature. Has it even come out yet?

Infiniti is unveiling a feature called "self-healing paint". The paint will be able to clear scratch marks and scuffs over time by itself. I'm just wondering if anybody here as first-hand experience with this feature.

Polarity charged 3 sided molecules will be able to realign the molecules or even change the color of the paint with a charge...
I guess the question is which technology are they using?

They started using in on the EX. The clear coat doesn't dry completely and therefore fixes clear coat scratches. You can't buff it though. After 3 years it hardens and doesn't absorb scratches anymore. It's a little simpler than the 'self-healing' implies, but still a somewhat cool feature. I'd prefer to buff it myself to get a stronger shine. There is a thread discussing this somewhere.

I wonder if they'd let you test this at a dealer

haha I don't know. You would basically have to ask the sales guy if you can scratch one of their new models.

And then wait around for a few days while the clearcoat SLOWLY flows into the void left by the scratch

It's on my 09 FX35,but I use a sealant so I don't see it's benefits.
