Thumbs down Crappy Oil Change!

So I took my G into a local dealership (Chrysler) b/c I received a coupon for a free oil change. Well since then, my car has been sluggish and eating gas. I am approx 600 mi before the next scheduled change and decided to check my oil. the level is fine (thank God!!!) but the oil is black as night! Also, I dont remember them even changing out the old oil and filter (I was walking in and out of the service bay).

Needless to say, I have had old oil and flter in my car now for almost 9K miles. Pretty pissed to say the least. Going to have them clean the fuel system and MAF as well while its in.

Infiniti dealers will be the only ones touching my car for now on....

Sorry for the vent.

Quite often the deal you thought you were getting just doesn't turn out that way. You don't need to have Infiniti change your oil, in fact you only need to visit Infiniti for warranty work. Nissan charges less and from what I've experienced their mechanics are better trained. It's also a good idea to find a reliable independent shop in your area for things like alignment and brakes.

I'm sure they changed the filter, it's easy to get under there and check.

What's wrong with jiffy lube? lol I used to work there.

That's a joke, I know what wrong with the good ol' JL.

Just do it yourself! If not you don't have a mechanic? you go to a dealer for everything... that's just asking to be raped in prices.

Why do people always hate on a guy when he goes to the dealer or any place to get stuff done??

not everyone has a place to do it, the tools or the knowledge.

That's great advice if you're not into doing it yourself or don't have the space.

And don't be alarmed if it's a Mopar filter, I believe it's just a re-stickered Wix which is a good piece.

Because it's incredibly simple! And requires 2 tools.

I have the very best process for changing my oil, order my K&N filters on line and buy 3 at a time so there's no charge for shipping. Visit my Napa autoparts store and pick up 5 quarts of Red Line 10W/30 synthetic. On to my buddys shop where I put it on the rack change the oil/filter, wipe down the undercarriage and inside the wheels while checking the tire pressure. All it's cost me is the oil and filter and I'm good for another 90 days or 4K miles.... Tool requirement....3+rags/cleaner

So you go 5k between changes? That is ok in my book but what is not is not checking your oil until the very end of one of those changes. How do you associate the oil with your running problems unless you look at your oil during that time?

infiniti charges 29.99 for an oil change here in Fort Myers... If you pay for the oil, filters and the time it takes... I'd rather have someone else do it thank you very much .

Sure I know how to do it and of course I have the means, but why would I when its right around the same price...

Last time I did my own oil it cost me well over 29.99 just in oil and filters... and this was for my 1990 300zx.

I want them to clean the MAF and run a diagnostics on my fuel system. MPG's have been way down lately, even after a seafoam treatment and ECU reset.

To be honest, I didnt think about it until the last 3-4 weeks when the car began eating gas/feeling sluggish.
