Cheaper solution to making the G35 sound mean!

I love the way the G35c starts up... but I'm wondering if there is a little something that can make it THAT much meaner!

I'm not looking for anything outrageous... just perhaps a little bit up....

Links to products would be great

Thanks!

my suggestion is the z tube. gives and aweome sound above 4 grand. i got mine for free, just try and find someone with a z that has an aftermarket intake and talk to them.

Cut open the muffler and remove all the crap that's in there. Then weld the cut back together.

I think you can add an intake and mess around with your exhaust. Hi Flow cats are cheap and should liven up things for your G.

You read my mind...
A quicker way would be taking a 1/4" drill bit, and drill 10 or so holes in the muffler -You'll have your all American muscle car in no time...

Yeah, perforating the muffler is the way to get mean sound on the cheap!
Even an econobox can sound semi-mean that way, lol.

The other supercheap way would be to burn a CD with a sound clip of a Fujitsubo exhaust at WOT, then roll down your windows and crank up the volume!!

Strip everything in the rear of the car down to the frame, including the crap in the trunk. OH MAN!!! It sounds sooo damn good! I'm almost tempted to leave the car in that condition. If you can stand the road noise and the whine of the fuel pump... that is the cheapest solution because it will sound awesome to you... and that's all that matters.

I actually was next to a Jetta with a full body kit and rims today. The guy had blow off valve recordings. He was idling and I hear blow off valves in the direction of his car.. They were definitely not from MY engine. ahah.

Re: Cheaper solution to making the G35 sound mean!

Shame on all of you. Valid question from someone looking for some advice, in a nice way, and all he gets is anecdotes and flames!?!
C'mon, have some fun, but pitch in a bit and help too.

Answer to question:
CAI (Cold air intake- K&N, Nismo, Injen, Stillen, or Ztube/Popcharger combo seem to be favorites; check the sponsors for the best price, and search the posts for instructions for installation- they are all relatively easy). This will give a more authoritatative bark, but not really until you either mat it or get above 3 and half grand on the tach.
For bark on start-up, aftermarket exhaust and hi-flow cats are really the only things that will get you there (within reason of course).

My apologies to our original poster on behalf of others who forgot their e-etiquette and failed to check the number of posts made by Dennis.

Cheers, and welcome to the forums. Check this month's Sports Car International for more praise on the G35, the FM platform, and the Zs on page 10.

Derek
