Thinking of getting rid of the G for a 2010 Mustang GT

I know I will get flamed for this but....

I came from on 03 Cobra to my 07 G but really like the 2010 GT's. I know the GT's are not as refined as the G's but other than that has anyone gone from the G to the GT or come from the GT to the G?

Is 2010 the one that comes with 400hp V8 for the GT lines?

I'm also thinking the same thing, but not for a mustang..I hated my 5.0 foxbody. I'm looking for a Supra TT OR Camaro SS. I just cant stand how much it costs to make these OR the Z any faster! Plus its really not that luxury, and I'm tired of the problems I'm running into with a car that's only coming up on 6yrs old. Also none of the new cars out really appeal to me, so I know I'm not buying brand new.

Knock on wood the only problem I have had with the G was the driver side power window dies and that was fixed under warranty. I have to sit/drive the mustang to see how I fit in it.

I don't like the new camaro's at all..now if it was a firebird with the WS6 package on it...they looked tough and mean but I know the interior's were junk.

I've had more problems with my 04 G35 than any other car I've owned, and this being the newest. But someone has to get the junk one from the factory right?? lol

I liked the new Camaro..when it was still a concept and before I saw the production model..eww. I like the older f-bodies, mainly 98-02. The firebird with the ws6 package was DOPE! haha, strong, fast, but like you said the interior was weak.

I despise Mustangs, but the new one is a good car.

What about the reliability of Ford? My 2004 G35 has some problems too, but they are minor; nothing to do with anything under the hood. My dad's Ford had problems with stuff under the hood.

Fords are pretty reliable IMO... I had a mustang that had minor issues (one under the hood) I currently have an F150 and I beat the hell out of it. The main reason I ended up getting a G instead of a mustang again was customer service sucked. I got mad when they told me at 30,000 I needed transmission fluid changed. When I said "no thank you" they told me that if I didn't they would show I didn't and my transmission would be voided....WTF! I hear they have attempted to improve it but I dunno Neighbor bought a '10 GT and went right away and put some Magnaflows on there... Hearing it every morning makes me miss V8s

If I ever buy American again, it will be Ford. If for anything, its because they didn't take bail out money from the government... Thats another topic on its own though

hmmmm... what problems have you had? Sorry to hear... I've had zero problems with my G other than the famous rearview homelink mirror rattle which I plan to fix this weekend. I love my G. How many miles do you have on yours? Is it a mileage issue?

You have no idea how close I got to owning an 03 Cobra when it was new back in 03, AND before I got my recent G. I loved the power those things put down! But alas, it was the build quality and interior that shunned me away. It's as if they designed a great exterior and a great engine, but then when it came to the inside it's as if the engineering team said, "Bah... we're done.", and just threw things together.

Now as far as the 2010, I test drove both an 09 and an 10 before I got the G... I loved the engine torque (obviously not as torquey as the 03 s-chgd), and also loved the exhaust note. The handling was a little so-so. That rear axle doesn't inspire confidence in turns. The interior was "okay" in my mind... nicer than previous gens, but the 2010 is nicer than the 2009 IMO.

So would I recommend you get the new Stang over the G? hmmmm I'm biased towards our G's. Our G's just seem "tighter" and better built than the Stang... but the stang does have more power. Also, it seems like everyone's got the new Stang So in the end up to you, but you probably couldn't go wrong with either decision. But if it were me, I'd stick with the G.

EDIT: Another thing I love about our G's and not so much with the Stangs is the shifter! When I test drove both 09 and 10 stangs, the shifter throws seemed to be so loooong and sloppy compared to the somewhat short ratchet snick snick of the G. Just my 2 cents. Good luck with the choice

I've owned 5 mustangs and also own my 04 G35. I currently own a 2004 Cobra, use to have a 05 GT, and drove the new 2010 stangs. The interior of the 2010s is a lot better than previous versions.

Also, Ford IS reliable. These 2 articles were just released...

Stangs are very easy and cheap to modify. I would go for the 2010 if I were you. Or get both :-)

I had an 95 GT Vert, 97 GT with a built motor/Vortech and an 03 Cobra that put 480 to the wheels with bolt on and other than self inflicted uh oh's I never had any problems from them. I miss the rumble of the V8 and would get an automatic because of the traffic I deal with daily driving into the Norfolk Naval Base.

There has been a lot of talk about it in many magazines I've read.
