I'm moving back to the states pretty soon and spent a little time looking at ebay listings trying to get an idea on price. I know nothing about them other than the fact that I remember sitting in one at the unveiling of the car back at the chicago auto show in either 02 or 03.
Now I'm looking back and trying to find out different things about the car and my main concern is have there been any major maintenance issues like the 350z's tire wear up front (people tell me that the two are alike in some ways). What should I look out for when shopping? Seems like the ones listed on ebay are terrible on mileage like they were rent-a-cars for a year or so with 50-60k on them for ~$20,000. I would be looking for a (newer year if found) manual coupe with the sport wheels so I wouldn't feel the urge to start shopping for wheels. I'd look for a red, black or silver (in that order) color with black interior. |

I was more interested in any maintenance problems or things like I said about the 350z's having a bad rep for front tire wear.

You have great taste mach250. G35's are beautiful cars. Since it is a high-end luxury sports car, it requires more attention and maintenance than a regular car. If you end up buying a G35, it is best to take preventative measurement to ensure that you won't run into problems in the future which would end up costing you more money down the road. The first item on my checklist is getting a wheel alignment right off the bat. Go to Firestone and get a life-time alignment for $120. I've had my front tires feathered because the wheel alignment was off. Other than that, it's been a great car and a head turner.
Here's a checklist in the order of things that needs the most attention: 1. Wheel alignment (get the life-time alignment; it will pay off in the long run) 2. Oil change 3. Transmission fluid service 4. Brake service 5. Replace air filter ( no matter how clean the original one is) |

So it goes through oil and transmission fluid pretty fast, plagued by somewhat the same tire wear issue as the 350z and goes through brakes fairly quick?
Am I correct in the above sentence or did I miss something?

NO. I have an 06 6mt. with low mileage and no oil consumption, tire wear, brake wear, excessive gas consumption or any other problems at ll. It seems that most people buy 03' and 04' cars with high mileage and poor, or no maintenance records for cheap and they get what they pay for, run-down cars. Buy an o6' or 07' with low mileage and you should be perfectly fine. It is an entry-level luxury car after all. I also own a 2K SE Max that I've had for nine years and, aside from maintenance at all.
