2005 G35 Starter Problem HELP
I have a 2005 G35 coupe with about 90000 miles .
Notices recently that my starter was going out or so I thought . Took it to the mechanic and he confirmed that was the case . He changed the starter and on my way home I went to get gas and when I went to start the car and it wouldnt turn over . i called him he met me at the Gas station and took a lok at it and said it was the alternator now. he said that is how it ussually happens , when one goes out the other is close to follow . So , he replaced the alternator . i go to start the car this morning and nothing the car wont turn over again. Help what else could it be ? Obviously this mechanic doesnt know . |

I havent , but if it was the battery would of it even started up after they changed the the starter the first time and then start again after they changed the alternator after that ?

Not sure. Did it just start right up after they replaced the starter and alternator or what? Maybe you could try giving it a jump to see if it starts. If it still doesn't start, the battery's not the problem

yes it started up right away the first time , after the starter was put in , then it wouldnt start up at the gas station right after . Waited a while and started up again at the gas station , drove it home and started up the next moning and took it back to the mechanic . Then they decided it was now the alternator . I drove home fine , all through the next day . The morning after that went to start it and wouldnt turn over . the lights worked fine and the radio .

Hmmm, yea that doesn't sound so much like a battery problem. I'm not really sure what's up

it might be something messed up with vehicle immobilization system. I don't remember if an invalid key allows the engine to try to turn over or not.

Im back again well after the new starter , alternator and battery I thought the problem was fixed , but after a week of running great I went to start the car up and it started a little slow. Hoping it was the cold weather i drove it home fine . I turned it off and tried to restart and it wouldnt start , then I noticed smoke coming form the area near and around the battery. Now what can it be HELP .

Yea let us know if that fixes it for good. I had a volvo a few years ago that had a similar problem where it would randomly decide to not start. We never figured out what the problem was and ended up putting in a button that just bypassed the whole ignition system and directly started the car.
