How about changing the freaking piston rings for once and for all? Instead of building the motors with the crappy rings, why not use the good one in the 1st place?

Nissan motors aren't as smooth or quiet as the Honda / Toyota motors. My next car won't be an Infinti or Nissan for sure.

Early M45 motors had this problem?

So Nissan is upgrading the rings on the replacements?

Yes, the motor they are replacing it with is a revised motor with the upgraded rings.

I just purchased a 2004 G35 and am burning oil... BAD. What do I need to do to make this stop? I quoted you because you mentioned you were a mechanic. Were the piston rings a recall item by chance? Is Nissan absorbing any cost on defected items?

Nope. No recall. At this point any solution is pretty much on you to figure out.
