to pull the bottom back seat out , just pull up hard, there are 2 clips on both sides. you sure it wasnt the gas gauge weirdness problem that could of been fixed by using a q-tip, if your under warranty than good for you "D

So just pull up on the entire bottom hard? Do both seats and the console both come up or do each bucket seat bottoms come out individually?
No, I'm not. I'm not aware of that problem and the q-tip solution. What were the symptoms? Mine isn't irregular at all, it's just wrong. When the gas light comes on, I have about 8 gallons left in the tank. |

You will have to pull hard to get it to unclip. The lower part of the back seats is one piece with the center console attached.

Can you tell me more about this or do you know if there's a thread that goes into detail. TIA

Which side do I replace? the passenger side sending unit, or the driver side, or both?

Dealerships can test the sending units to see which is faulty. Since you dont have any way of knowing, I'd just replace both to be safe.

Yeah well I doubt they'd do that for free, which is why I'm doing it myself to begin with. Yeah, I guess I'll do both. It's only $70 total for both parts. Has anyone done this before? It looks straightforward, but is there anything in doing this that I should specifically be careful about?
[edit] woops, just realized I'm in the wrong forum. Last edited by Retaliation; 09-21-2010 at 10:29 AM. |

It does look ugly and removing the back seat and spare tire is only around 80lbs total, nowhere near a Z.

Well, the q-tip procedure worked for me. I drove my car till the tank was almost empty, then followed that procedure. It took me about 15 minutes. I didn't think it did any good, but once I filled the car up, the needle went all the way up. It's the first time in two years since owning it that the gas gauge has been to the full line since I've had it.
I'm totally pumped!

okay bad news and need help. I did the DIY and fuel will fill all the way up a bit past full which got me very excited, I set my odometer to zero at the last fill up and drove about 340 miles from full to just 1/4 tank left.....the gauge stayed at 1/4 tank for a really long time and had me concerned. I decided to fill it up even though the needle read 1/4 and well before gas light came on because...I figured getting 340 miles just seemed like a lot of miles in a g. I pump gas and fill up with 19.19 gallons!!!!! which means if had I not pulled over and filled I would have run out somewhere on the road! WTF! Why doesn't my fuel gauge drop below the 1/4 mark now to tell me I'm way low?? HELP!! I don't know if something is wrong or if I need new sending units, etc. the gauge/units were working just fine below 1/4 tank mark before the DIY so idk!!
