G35 Computer Update?!?!
Hello, and sorry if I am posting this in the incorrect place.
A few days ago I got a call from Orlando Infiniti telling me that I needed to schedule an appointment and come in for a "software update". When I asked what exactly it was, she told me it was similar to doing a "firmware update on a smartphone" but could not go into much more detail...
I guess what I am asking is... Is this a legit update? or just a way for them to get my car into the dealership and look for other things to sell me on?
I have an '06 Coupe with sports and premium package... No navi though (incase that info is relevant).
Thanks in advance guys/gals...

I've never heard of such a thing from a dealer at no cost to you. This seems like the type of thing that would be covered under a recall notice if it was actually a problem with the ECU that makes the car unsafe or unreliable.
Infiniti wouldn't have people come in and give them a free firmware upgrade to their ECU if it wasn't financially beneficial for them to do so in the long run(meaning that it either saves them money from a potential lawsuit as a result of injuries stemming from mechanical failure, or the upgrade somehow prevents the car from doing something which would lead to a costly Warranty-covered repair).
Maybe this is one of those deals where you come in to have your "ECU reprogrammed", and they take the car out back where you can't see it and don't actually do anything to your car, but while they were working on it, do a 100 point inspection and tell you that you need new brakes, and a plethora of other maintenance things which will cost you about $2000 to have done total.... and try to scare you into doing it then and there by saying your powertrain warranty would be voided if you didn't do it or some other such BS.

I got this also and I called Infiniti Custmoer Service and they didn't know anything about this update. He had me read him the email that Orlando Infiniti sent me and said there is no software update. So he kept me on the phone and called Orlando Infiniti and he asked the service manager about this and what the service manager said was that this was just for you to come in and they check to make sure there are no TSB's, Recalls or Campaigns on your car that are needed. THERE IS NO SOFTWARE UPDATE
