My first G Coupe

Hey guys, this is my first time posting here and I do not have a G coupe yet. I really want to get one but with my current financial situation the only ones in my price range are the G35's with 70,000-100,000 miles on them. If I get one it will have the 6mt transmission.

My real questions is about there long term reliability and reliability in general? And what common problems or complaints usually arise with these cars.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Just search for known issues, it really depends on what year your looking for too.
It's been covered a lot but I can comment on 05'-07' G coupes.
The 05'-07' coupes with the revup engines (6mt) were known to have oil consumption issues.
I could never determine what % of Gs it affected since most on the forum will only comment when they have a problem their cars.
Other issues, sticky clutch, clicking clutch, axle click, wheel bearings

I had all these issues & luckily were covered under warranty at the time.
The only prob I had in the past couple years was a worn out slave cylinder hose.
I still have my 06' and still loving it.

Thnx, as far as the sticky clutch, clicking clutch, axle click and wheel bearings. After the problems where addressed under warranty did they continue to be problems after being fixed?

Thanks for the input.

Also I found one on AutoTrader w/ 109k miles for $12k. Seems to be in good shape, would you consider that a good deal.

Not so far, knock on wood.
Clutch, axle & wheel bearings addressed in 2010.
Oil consumption addressed in 2012.

The OC issue is def something to be aware of before buying.
Not all G coupes have the problem and if they do the severity varies.
For the worst cases the solution was to replace the engine, but some guys were able to deal with the problem by just consistently monitoring the oil level & filling when needed.

Since you have such a low budget maybe it's not a good idea for you to buy a car that could nickle & dime you to death. When it comes to OC a new motor would cost more than what you're paying for the G coupe. Maybe a lesser car with fewer mileage would be a better choice...Toyota?

At this point, OC can't only be linked to the revups.

Fact! ^ Had my oil changed this morning that was the first thing the Nissan machanic asked me, "Are you using oil?" My reply was, No! Sadly, no one in SoCal had any AMSOIL 10W/30 so I lowered my standards and used Mobil1 but just until someone has my AMSOIL!

Haha Gary and his fluids. I read old posts from Gary a couple years ago and he praised Mobile 1. Had a change of heart Gary?
