bumper foam necessary?

I took my front bumper off to do the headlight mod, and now it wont go back on without the 2 pieces of foam above and below the main bumper foam being taken out, are these small pieces necessary? is the main bumper foam good enough?

I think it's there to keep the bumper from collapsing or pushing in too far which may cause spiderweb cracks.

Structurally you may be OK, but I might lean towards reinstalling them just to keep the bumper shape correct.

The foam in my OE bumper went to the city dump 6 years ago when I installed my KurmaZ bumper. If you find the need to install it use some Gorilla tape, that will hold it in place while you reinstall your bumper...Gary

It's not as if I actually tried. I just looked at them and said, 'dafaq?..eh..' And threw them in my trunk, where they still reside to this day. Most useless garbage ever.

lol! If u get into a fender bender then there's just an easier chance for airbags to go off without them !

i'm pretty sure the engineers at Nissan designed and placed these foams there for a reason. They will protect your bumpers from paint chipping or cracks when (God Forbids) you accidentally go bumper to bumper in traffic or while parking.

I highly suggest keeping them.

They designed a lot of things for a lot of reasons. Doesn't mean its all necessary or correct. Some are due to legalities. I mean I know what you mean, but I guarantee those little floating pieces of foam ain't saving any lives.

They are to give the flexible bumper cover support. That's all. So if your drunk buddy come over and leans on your bumper cover, it will dent inwards and possibly crack the paint.

Don't have your buddy lean on your bumper cover and possibly crack the paint

I bout punched a child for sitting on my fender. Didn't even know the little stinky ****** and his white trash mom was just sitting there talking to him letting him sit on someone else's car. Nobody's leaning on my ****. Haha

I always thought the 2 foam pieces on the sides were to keep the air flow central. when u install a cai it requires that u remove the driver side one. is that the foam pieces ur talking about?
