Smile Motordyne exhaust question

Alright so, today I installed the motordyne tdx2 exhaust on my g35 coupe. I have stock cats with the setup. Question is... why isn't it as loud as people make it seem to be? Does it have to be paired with ART pipes to make it loud? What about HFC? will they make it louder?

Yes high flow cats will make it louder and maybe your perception of loud is different from someone else's. Not trying to be a butt.

I believe most guys go with fast intention hfc's or motordyne art pipes. Either one will give you an increase in sound and a few extra horses.

I can only tell you the fast intention HFC and exhaust will put you at 96db. I did the test myself since my dad has all these sound equipment. Motordyne exhaust is louder then the fast intention exhaust. I just installed the motordyne last month. The FI HFC will make it louder and since you have the motordyne exhaust it will probably be 96-98db. Not sure how loud you want it. I don't have the HFC anymore since I wanted to be street legal now.

What do you mean street legal? like be able to pass inspections? I thought HFC were legal to pass inspections...

Like someone else has already said, loudness is relevant to the person in the car. I have the motordyne TDX2 exhaust with ART pipes its a bit loud for me. Then again, I live in Europe and I can drive over 100mph on a regular basis for long periods of time. At high speeds its not as enjoyable. It almost makes me want to drive slower so I won't hear the loud exhaust for the entire time. I like to drive fast, but the loudness is getting old for me. In the US, you are probably fine since the speeds are not as fast.
