Lower or leave it?

Lower or leave it?
I think it might look better a little lower, but I'm afraid the tires might rub. Pretty sure I'm still on the original shocks ( 131000 miles, 2004 5AT ) so I know I'll need to replace them sooner not later. Any suggestions on shock replacement vs adjustable coil-overs, considering I'm looking for comfort and stability and not so much performance. This car is more of a road car we use on trips, not a weekend racer. What brands should I trust?

If you really need to, they make a coilover set that has 75mm of clearance at the flip of a switch. Gotta pay to play...

Kyb gr-2 shocks are great for replacement. I believe they're about 10% stiffer than stock (unnoticeable difference) and good quality at an affordable price.
Lowering it even with the most modest drop will be noticeably stiffer than stock and probably not the best idea if you want to keep the same ride quality. I would get new shocks and some wheel spacers to get the look and feel you want.

If you plan on using it for road trips and as a dependable vehicle I wouldn't go any lower.

Thanks for the positive feedback everyone. I'll probably take my time on the mods, mainly due to funds, but a year from now I'm hoping to have it how I want it. I feel kinda lucky getting this car when I did, because I looked at a bunch of clunkers that I could tell had been abused. I was looking for a white G when I came across this silver 2004 and in the same parking lot sat a 2005 with less miles and the most hideous racing stripes front to back and a jacked up interior. I could tell the 2004 had been taken care of and most likely garaged. I recently purchased the new Vossens which I've grown to really like - even though I still have second thoughts about the finish. Really liked the gloss graphite look, but was afraid they'd look too dark so went with the silver. I know a lot of people aren't fans of Vossen, but I've been pretty happy so far. I've learned to appreciate the many looks a G can show.

KYBs are the perfect shock replacement for your very clean coupe, factory ride that will last for years! Only lower your ride if you have the big $$ to do it right! BC coilovers and a complete SPL camber kit which after alignment will cost you very close to $2K! Is it worth it?
