G35 shock and strut question

I've been searching for a few days now and I need a direct answer please.

I have a 2003 G35 sedan with sport suspension. What is the correct shock and strut? Please give part numbers

I'm thinking it's KYB #341367 and #341366 for struts

RWD right, and what is the production date printed on the door. Early sedans in '03 had some weird different parts.

RWD sedan production date 1/03. My car has red shocks which would indicate Sport suspension. I assume since there is no company that makes "sport" shocks for the sedan that it would use the Coupe "sport" shocks and struts. The difference between the "sport" and non-sport seems to be shaft travel is longer on non-sport shock and the extended length is slightly longer.

so is this KYB #341367 and #341366 for struts, correct?

Regular coupe shocks/struts are the same as sedan sport. Coupe sport would be too stiff. No body really make "regular" spec sedan struts, so it's essentially a free upgrade.

You should go with KYB # 341378 and # 341377

For the rear use: # 344491

wouldn't this KYB # 341378 and # 341377 just be the struts for "standard" sedans? where does the "sport" thing come in? So if this is the same strut for the non-sport model and also for the "sport" model, what's the difference? none?

Sorta. In stock form, the base sedan shocks were softer than the sport ones (for comfort). However no aftermarket company makes "base" sedan shocks. So essentially base and sport sedan struts are the "same" in the sense that you can't really buy base model struts.

This way the manufacture only has to make 2 versions of the struts: All Sedans/base Coupes, and Sport Coupe/350Z. Sport coupes have a higher spring rate, so struts would be too firm for the softer Sedan and base coupe springs.

let me get this right in my mind, so what you're saying is the aftermarket "base" shock is stiffer than the stock "base" shock. And this aftermarket "base" shock would equate to the "sport" shock on the stock G35 with sport suspension. That being said, the real "sport" shock of the coupe would be too stiff?

Did you ever try asking your question at a parts department of your local Infiniti dealer?

I just called my local infiniti and he gave me #56210AM828 for rear shocks. These are non-sport shocks, when I told him I had SPORT shocks

I'm about to give up

There are no sport suspensions in 03/4.

Basically you have 2 choices with KYB: you have the GR-2 and the Excel. The Excel is the sport coupe version for later models the GR-2 is everything else. You want the GR-2 if you're looking for stock performance. The Excel is noticeably stiffer. I've had both.

GR2 and Excel are exactly the same thing, KYB changed the "branding" to Excel-G a few years ago.

funny how most people on forums just parrot things they've heard without giving any useful info. A know it all know-it-all know nothing.

So I typed INFINITI wrong once? Thanks for catching that, the internet is a much safer place now.

I assumed a person with over 700 posts must know something. Sorry my mistake. I'm just a regular guy looking for information

Thanks for the info LoSt180 I now have the answer
