Rattles!

Hello I have so far put 13031 miles on my Black G35S 2007 model. Currently I am hearing rattles that seem to be coming from either the seat belt posts on both front doors, or from within the two front doors themselves. I am thinking that this rattling has started as a result of the high temperatures we have had during the day here in the south. Perhaps the materials are expanding and contracting causing screws and such to become lose. If I take my car to the dealership during a regular service interval, would they charge me extra to inspect the doors and seat belt posts?

Thanks

Do you use a garage? It makes a hell of a different.

make sure when you're testing for rattles to take everything out of the door trays, sunglass holders, and ashtray...

i thought i had rattles coming from everywhere until i realized it was my sunglasses in the sunglass holder and all the change i keep in my ashtray

AHAH yeah I have a garage, but when I have been at work this summer I noticed it mostly when it was really hot. I have a sun shield that I put in the windshield when I am not in the car.

Guess it just goes to show you cannot have it all, in comparison how does the IS class Lexus hold up with regard to fit and finish?

I ride in my friend's IS quite a few times, and i must admit, Though i like my G35 more, There fit and finish is better. I like the layout of our car, but they actually have a soft touch dash, and i heard no rattles what so ever.... The only problem with the IS is (besides being smaller) you can't hear the motor.... That's a good thing to some people though

Yeah I figured the IS would be quieter than the G and the fit would be tighter. However I am still loyal to the G lol

I'm just over 15,000 miles now and starting to notice a lot of rattles. I'll take it in and have them investigate the areas (driver and passenger doors and rear deck) but I'm sure they'll just tell me they were unable to reproduce it or find the cause.

I'm just learning to live with them. I've had the dealer look at the car numerous times and they said they replaced stuff and tightened stuff, but the rattles are still there. Plus, every time I bring it in, I get horrible service and find new problems that they created. So, I've given up!

My rattles are rear deck and door, too. Also creak with body flex. I think the body flex actually creates all the above.

Now i'm on a mission...time to rip out the entire interior one piece at a time and back in and out of my driveway!!!

heh heh

did you have anything in the door storage spots? Mine was rattling the other day and was getting pissed as hell and then I thought to look and it was just a water bottle causing the noise.

The rear deck is the seat belt springs and there is nothing that can be done.
Put your ear near the area where the seat belt comes out of the deck, and tap lightly on the deck itself.
You'll hear the springs vibrate kind of like one of those doorstop springs that you have in your house.
I've had them apart, and in for warranty work. The loaner car made the same noise, and they couldn't fix it on my car. Its just a cheap loose fitting spring floating around in there.
