Hey guys-
After doing my oil change a few weeks back and repeatedly jacking up my car from the front center jacking point, I became increasingly annoyed by that large plastic cover that covers the oil pan area. It has like 4-6 bolts that secure it to the underbody. Question: Do I need that? Mine is completely deformed and is very annoying. It isn't flat anymore- it's wavy and a pain to take off/put on when I do oil changes. It also makes it harder to see the jacking point that's just beyond the oil pan (from the front). If I DO need this, what is it called so I can get another one? Any one know where I can get it? Thanks.

Maybe you can find the right number of bolts and once it's fastened correctly it will straighten out and you won't have to buy a new one.

Mine ripped off on a trip between Phoenix and SoCal. I finished the job and just removed the whole thing. Haven't been running with it for a long time now.

Yes, it's a pain, but in addition to the neg lift at speed, I have found that the G's engine compartment stays cleaner than any other car I have owned. I think it's worth it.

how about redesigning the cover?
so we can reach the oil and the nut for the oil? sounds way more convenient!

I can get to the drain plug easy, but it still runs out on the cover. Then there's the filter...

thanks guys. I think I'll try to keep it on if I can fit it correctly. I think it was put on incorrectly when my car used to get oil changes at Jiffy Lube. It's so bent out of shape that it stays deformed even when I take it out so I don't think there's any hope of straightening it out. And that ARC piece looks way too bulky. I'd be dragging that thing around everywhere I went.

As for oil change convenience, I'm just not that put out by having to remove the bolts every 7500 miles. And I can't get my jack to the center spot without a short side jack anyway.
