Left the house tonight, noticed a flickering of my headlight when I left the garage. I noticed my passenger headlight was out when I pulled up behind another car at a stoplight.

Gassed up, came home and my passenger light was on, but kind of a purple colored tint compared to the white color of the drivers side.

I turned my lights off and on several times in the garage, sometimes passenger side would come on or intermittently turn off. Is this more of an issue with the ballast, or bulb? Do you recommend changing one, the other or both? 07 coupe BTW stock HID

Thanks
Ron

Light problems with HIDs are almost always ballast related. I have 157k miles and 12yrs on my original bulbs but have had to replace one ballast..

That being said, I'd actually just take the light off and inspect for any obvious problems such as loose connections of any sort before you start replacing stuff. If nothing obvious (connection-wise) then switch bulbs and ballasts (one at a time) between both lights and see which part brings the problem with it.

Swap the bulbs:

if the color problem follows the lights it's the bulb.
If the color problem stats the ballasts are bad.

Is usually recommend replacing these together.

Do I have to dig deeper to find the trunk sat harness? Or does it not exist on my car? 2005 G35x with Bose audio, no nav, Canadian car.

Thanks

From the pic it looks like a plastic clip there between the back seat and the metal braces, check if there's a harness there.

Popping noise after doing suspension work

I did some work lay week to my 2004 g35x (front drivers compression rod and strut, and front passenger strut) and after doing the work I noticed a popping sound at mostly low speeds and the brake is rubbing a bit (not a huge concern for me at the moment). I did have to partially remove the cv axle and remove the break assembly and what not to get the new compression rod in so I'm assuming I messed something up somewhere. I have read the thread on low speed popping noise but didn't find a real conclusion. Any help would be great. I'm hoping I don't have to replace anything else but if that's the case then so be it.

Not really a question but some advice...when I bought my car used, the dealer swapped out the left cam position sensor for a hard starting issue (and P0340 code), problem persisted...

As you can see, two of the prongs are bent and not making any contact with the plug. And it's aftermarket too. Went to my local Infiniti dealer to get another one, problem solved. Getting that plug off though, that was less than fun. Bolt was not much better but I was able to get a short socket on it to remove it. Nice to have the car start instantly. VSD and slip lights were already off, cleared the SES light too.

A few quick questions;

1. Is there a conscientious on what kind of phone mount to use? The space between the center vents is pretty tight for a Nexus 6P (or any similarly large phone) and the vents tend to rotate down when you attach a phone to it. Not sure I want to stick something to the dash and the windshield mounts are unsightly.

2. Where can I get the front license plate block off? Its the only thing missing from my car when I bought it. Yeah, supposed to have a front plate in Texas but it's rarely enforced, mostly for pulling over cars late at night when I'm not out driving. Our cars are 10+ years old and the dealers no longer have to carry every part for them.

3. Is the dipstick supposed to be so hard to put back in? Trying to get a feel for any oil consumption issues I may have and I fight with the dipstick every time I check it. I've had a couple VQ35 Maximas and didn't have any issues with the dipstick. The one in my Accord is a, for lack of a better term, flexible metal rope design. Maybe Infiniti needs something similar.

1 - I know nothing of such things
2 - you check eBay yet?
3 - it's designed that way... Yes, it's stupid

1 - ProClip has a mount that attached to the center counsel
2- Ebay
3 - Mine just the opposite, almost to easy, somewhere in between is probably right, a new dipstick is less than $15.00

So I don't know if this is the right place to ask this, but I have a couple questions about my exhaust system on my 05 G35 sedan.

The exhaust broke away from the midpipe and is just dangling off one of the rubber hangers now. It was getting loud right underneath the cabin and I suspected there's a leak there too, so I ordered a Manzo exhaust kit which has the exhaust and mid pipe, and then also ordered a Y pipe. It passed emissions so I'm assuming the cats are fine(?)

Is this everything I need to do the repair myself? I don't have a pro garage at my house but it seems relatively straight-forward. Yea? Nay?

If not, what would be a reasonable amount I'd pay having a garage do it?

Thanks.

What can be done about wheel hop? Last time I had to deal with that was when I had my Chevelle and used ladder bars to cure it. I can't imagine Lakewood makes 'em for G35s. Did a search on "wheel hop" didn't find much other than its a problem.

Obviously it isn't a serious problem, not like I sidestep the clutch regularly from lights or anything like that. But if at some point I decide to take it to the strip to see what it does it would be nice to be hop free.

Have to check around online to see what bushings are available currently. Although traction/ladder bars would look cool.
