I bought mine used. It shouldn't matter for warranty work.

Bought mine used as well. Warranty is linked to the car, not owner

G35 Door rusting

Hello!

I am in the same shoe and now moving to Houston. Would you please tell me which dealership you had the repair done at?

Thanks so much!

The eventual repair was done by Infiniti North Houston right when Sewell took them over. So I can't really say how Sewell will respond. Once Infiniti Corporate agreed to cover it, the dealership became very cooperative.

Note: the paint may be good but the door fit will not be as good as from the factory

Oh ok.

But I have till 2016 for these doors to be replaced then?

Isn't it better for infiniti to replace them now rather than wait for the rust to spread to other areas.

That way they'll save money also.

Only your doors are covered... Lol. Anything to my understanding is from your pocket

Conflict is right. I have a fair amount of rust at the welded joints on the body in my engine bay and nobody (even me) is going to be doing anything about that. If I was really concerned I would use one of the GOOD rust inhibitor coatings.

One could hope that the steel chemistry and surface coating will be enough to make that self arresting. Interesting that there is an anode (sacrificial body) on the front wheel well under the hood so some of this is clearly anticipated.

Just got back from the dealership here in southern Ontario. They're replacing all 4 doors on my 2003.

Warranty is up in Feb 2013, so I'm glad I finally got around to getting this taken care of.

Bumping this thread because I have the same door rust problems on my 2003 G35. The passenger side is rusting under the black moulding at the bottom of the door. Its obviously a manufacturing defect.

Has anyone here, that is not the original car owner, got repairs covered by Infinitis extended 10 year warranty? I'm the 3rd owner of the car, but the original owner purchased the car at an Infiniti dealer close to where I live.

I'm the second owner. Warranty goes with the car, not the buyer.

Thanks for the reply. I phoned the Infiniti Canada headquarters and I'm covered until Jan. 2013.

I also phoned the local Infiniti dealership to try to set up an appointment but never got a reply ( they don't answer their phone ever). So I guess I'll have to just drop in and get the door looked at.

Apparently the door rust on the bottom of the door is common on the 2003 G35's, especiallly for cars in Eastern Canada, according to the Infinit rep I spoke to.

anyone been dealing with this problem lately??
mine has rusted through the pillar similar to pictures posted previously in the thread, its an 06 sedan and they are saying it isnt under the corrosion warranty so they are considering only fixing it under good will and taking a look at pictures but they have already stated multiple times they think perforation is when they is an actual hole. From the definition in the warranty booklet i strongly disagree. do they really think a hole can form in sheet metal that fast??
also my warranty booklet says its lifetime panel replacement warranty for perforation. which clearly described in the booklet is rust through from one side of the surface to another.
also i bought my car used from a dealer in 08 and in 2011 im at an infiniti dealer and they tell me my title is branded. i look into it more and the brand happened in 2010 due to milage discrepancy. must of been a mix up with the paper work from the dealership i brought it from. anyway infiniti consumer affairs says any warranty is void if the car is branded or salvage title so they are telling me as of 2010 all my warranties just stopped because of a paperwork mistake and there is nothing i can do about it. has anyone ever heard of anything like this and possibly have some insight for me. Im obviously going to to get the brand off my title
any insight on anything would be greatly appreciated. thanks guys
