Best sounding exhaust systems?

I'm looking for an exhaust for my 05 sedan. I want a dual exhaust but I don't really know where to start. My budget is $500. Would you guys be able to lead me in the right direction?

If you have a sedan your choices are very limited.
In the dual category you're looking at either the Stillen or Borla.
Tanabe would be a nice single pipe exhaust.
Pricing for all of these are above $500. With the duals running at $1000
Your best bet is waiting for a used one to pop up for sale

G35 sedan w/ too much money in mods
The best sounding exhaust for the sedan is the Motordyne VQ but there's virtually no way you'll find one for sale since they're discontinued.

Dude just get a eBay exhaust for like 250 bucks free shipping. (If you can find one for a sedan).
Everyone thinks you need to shell out 1000 dollars for a name brand.
You don't.
I have the eBay x02 hks replica and it sounds great, fit perfectly. I put Megan test pipes on as well.
I mean its just pipe. I could build one in my garage if I had the materials

What did hks do? put a special super nano turbo micro chip in their exhaust?
No.
I'll buy 4 eBay exhaust systems before I buy 1 name brand.

Just my opinion on the exhaust debate.

What is $750 dollars more special?
I don't know why you guys get so butt hurt about this stuff. I'm just trying to help a guy out.

Exhaust are not all the same. A lot of R&D goes into them. Not made right and you are loosing power. If your just looking for noise then any will do. You can be like the ricer kids that bolt on a fart knocking muffler on their civic that makes noise and drone. They have a 1" inlet with a 6" outlet that is robbing them of power, but making lots of noise and drone that to them, sounds like they are making more power! I hate drone coming inside of the cabin, will drive me crazy. Not all exhaust are created equal!

Thumbs up

Check the classified section, who knows you might get lucky. If not try Craigs list or ebay. After all it is your car, buy what you want. I'm not sure if Exoticspeed makes an exhaust for your sedan but, the one I installed on my coupe sounds beautiful.

Exhaust system manufactures spend hundreds of hours testing their systems, with a budget of $500 your only option is to have your local muffler shop build you a exhaust. Have them use 2.50" pipe with mandrel bends and Magnflow mufflers for the best results. Most of the restriction is in the OE converters, when you have a few more $$ install HFCs (high flow cats) then you should hear and feel a major difference while driving...Gary

I get what your saying, but the difference is the same as the difference between any other knock-off catagory.

In the case of the exhaust, the good name brand ones are usually made of better materials, have better welds, better bends, all of that adds up to more HP, better sound, less rasp and usually no drone. They'll also withstand more abuse, which is important for lowered cars and cars that see a lot of weather.

I mean you see this in any industry. You buy a $100 guitar and a $5000 guitar, are they gonna do the same thing? Of course, but the overall workmanship, sound quality, finish, woods and overall quality is going to be more apparent as you step up in price.

I love my HKS axle back exhaust, I bought it into thousand and six used for $150 it's lasted nine years and still going strong. I think this is the best sound for the money. I got mine for $150 used. I think new they are $450. Look on eBay, in the sale section of this site, or craigslist. You should be able to get one for 150 or $250.
