muffler replacement

So I can't wait any longer to replace the muffler system on my 2004 G35X sedan. The place that services my car quoted me $1,800.00 from the dealer for OEM...not doing that! I got a quote for a Bozell (?) system for $960.00. This is for the y pipe and back. Have never heard of that sysem...they spelled it that way but can't find it on any search. Found Bosal so wondering if that's it. In any case...any suggestions for a good system that is quiet?

That's a common replacement sold by auto parts stores. For that much you can get a performance oriented replacement from a sponsor that's stainless steel. Magna-flow sells one for our car, I'm an 06 and cant remember if there are differences, I'm pretty sure you can find one under 800.00. Part number is 16861

G35 sedan w/ too much money in mods
OP I recommend you go to RockAuto.com and look through their parts list. They sell OEM replacement equipment, just make sure you are looking for parts for the X model. I know they have minor differences here and there regarding parts from the regular sedan. A new mid-pipe and muffler for your car should come in under $300 I would guess. I've used that site for years and they've never let me down.

A good muffler shop can build you a system that is far less expensive, more performance oriented and still reasonably quiet if that's your goal.

And you probably want to get a new mid pipe too because the joint rusts out BUT why do you need a new muffler? What is bad on it? Is the muffler to mid pipe connection just rusted? Have a shop weld them together so you dont use a flange connection. I did that after the connection rusted out for the 3rd time
