2005 G35 MT with HIGH MILES

Hello all. I am looking at a G35 with about 170k miles on it. I know this is a great deal of milage, but its posted for 3,500.

With that said, the owner has only had it for 4000 miles and is ready to sell it because he is "looking for a racer". He also claims to hear ticking noises from the engine bay.

It has heated seats and sits on megan coilovers. The outside looks decent, but haven't seen the inside yet. Will go check it out soon.

I just wanted your guys' expertise on this matter. Should I buy it? I've had a G35 AT before and DIY everything. (bought that one at 150k as my first car)

Walk away and keep looking for a car in better condition. If he's a "racer" chances are in the time he's owned this one he beat on it pretty well. I just don't get a good feeling with anything you posted and my gut says "Hell nah"............

Thanks. I will heed your advise.
There is another that would sell for 3900. 2003 with 150xxx miles.
Is that too many miles for that price?

Mine has 220k on it. Well maintained it'll run fine for a long time. It just has random 200+k issues. I think I said this on another thread: if your budget only allows for high mileage cars, then you may not have enough budget to maintain a high mileage car.

High mileage (guess it depends on your definition) isn't always bad if you find a one owner car with all the service records. I picked up my '04 6MT with 132k miles on it for $4998. One owner car prior to the car lot purchasing it at auction. Serviced exclusively at the dealer except for oil changes that the owner did himself (and filled out the maintenance log too), including the 105k service. Also came with 6 new in the box Nissan oil filters, a new cabin air filter, original window sticker and sales contract. Bought in Texas, never registered outside of Texas, clean CarFax.

But a car with similar mileage that had several owners? Probably would have passed.
