so i took time this weekend to take apart center console in hopes the harnesses were dislodged or loose. it was tight upon inspection. i recorded part number of stereo and hvac/amp controller on top so i can get exact replacement on ebay (crossing my fingers on that). so i started the car up all hooked up but not assembled to make sure its working and suddenly, the stereo/AC is working like magic!!!

so im happy, probably was a bad connection? so i shut it down and assemble it. now its not working again. what it tells me is maybe there is oxided connection in harnesses or maybe the connection on the boards itself is bad?(didnt seem loose).

i'd like some feedback in this matter. can i simply swap out the stereo and hvac/amp controller with used one on ebay or does it require some "coding" afterwards by dealer consult program?

bought used unit from ebay. replacement took about 1 hr. did my battery of tests for about 15 minutes, looks like mission success. my NAV, stereo and hvac is all back.

after a few more days I will post a thorough guide for other folks who encounter the issue. current guides I've seen only cover the 1st gen issue, which is no help for us.

Hey Mifesto, i am having the exact same issues as you on my 2007 G35x sedan. This just started happening last night when i drove in to work... I took all of the troubleshooting steps that you took to no success.

Were you able to find the exact part from ebay? If so, would you be able to post the part as well ?

thanks bro!

you don't need the front face but I got a deal anyhow, now I have spare. during troubleshooting I realized probable cause of issue is actually the controller, not the stereo. I even opened it up but I did see anything obvious like blown fuses or burnt/loose connections etc. one word of warning, the controller also holds TPMS data. replacing controller you will be forced to resync your TPMS, by a shop or DIY.
