Well i went to go debadge today..only did 1 thank the lord..came out great..until you can notice the outline of the I clear as day. The paint around it is so ****ty with webs and scratches..that the paint below is brand new and sticks out when you are close to it..so now i can't eve debadge my car and i need to find an adhesive to put the I back on..what can i use?


God dam it this paint sucks..i have at leas 25 scratches around my car and the whole thing is webs. I don't have a buffer so i cant even buff it out

 

what i did was take it to a car wash and asked them just to buff out what was needed for 10 bucks!

Double sided 3m tape or epoxy for a permanent adhesion.

^^what prime said. but id stay away from the Epoxy since its permanent.

are the scratches on your trucnk just light surface blemishes? A good detail should clean it up as long as its not scracthed pass the clear coat. the paint under the letters still havent faded at all either since it's never been exposed to sunlight and time will fix that.

 

Hit it with some polish with a PC and should be good as new. Debadge FTW!

 

The ones around the letters are. Just lots of cob webs and imperfections in the clear coat. I really need a good buffing job but i really don't want to spend the money on a machine. I may see if i can find a place to do it for me

I know time will make the bluer paint fade..but how much time? I can debadge the car then have it say infiniti in a shadow

I debadge my 98 GP. Came out beautiful. It's sad that that paint was better than this

 

Buy a new set from the dealer (not that expensive), and it'll come with the adhesive tape already applied.

 

Ehh..i only need this 1 letter put on..i may just use some double sided tape for this one

 

Trust me..i want to buy one so bad. A good polish on my car would do wonders i feel. But it's $200 for equipment or i can pay this detailing company $200 for them to do it...i just don't know!

 

OP if you don't want to spend the $$ to get it professionally polished. Meg's Scratch X will remove most off the hairline scratches with some elbow grease. That's what I did when I debadged mine and it removed most of the imperfections.

 

When you debadged yours..did you have what i am describing..a shadow or deeper color paint underneath? I guess it de[ends on the color of the car..i have a darker color car so i bet it shows more than i light colored one

I wonder if that scratch x would help with the shadow

 

I debadged my G35 logo and had thicker, deeper color underneath (especially because my car is Blue Slate) very noticeable, but I just tried polishing the lines out and it's pretty good now.

 

See mine is blue slate as well..oh well i am going to keep on going ..worse comes to worse i just put them back on

 

rubbing compound.. followed by a nice wax should fix your prob..

since you dont want to spend on a buffer.. in that case, use extra elbow grease..
