Cat Heat Shields Gone

My cat heat shields were rusted and rattling in my 07 G35X. I got fed up with the sound and removed the heat shields from both cats this weekend. Will this have negative effects besides potentially lighting dried leaves on fire?

Thanks for your help!

Welcome to Driver DXB!

Nissan installs the heat shields for a good reason, yes it's possible to start a fire if you park/drive in a dry field! Take the shields to your local muffler shop and have them welded on, which is what you should have done when they began making noise! Search and do some research if you have issues or questions...Gary

It won't effect anything. People that have HFC or TP don't have that shield. No fires reported.

I had my mechanic put some clamps on the 07 while she was on the hoist for an oil change. Took about 15 min to clamp all the shields on the exhaust system. Once one starts they all seem to follow shortly after. I am not upgrading the pipes anytime soon so this will do. $20 job.
