Is it crazy to buy this car used. I do some wrenching myself, but this seems like a huge job.

What do the warranties run per month or yr, and can you get them for a vehicle with a salvage title (which I'll probably avoid anyways)?

Thanks for the insight.
It's not likely you'll have a vehicle with the oil pressure issue. I'd bet it's less than 1% of vehicles, if not less. Think about how many people are driving these around to 200k miles(not unheard of after 8 years) with no knowledge of this. I don't believe there is a TSB or recall or anything.

But still, it's good to be aware. Thanks to VQ for stepping up with the DIY and info.

Agreed. According to all sources the G is one of the most reliable used cars in it's class. And a Camry is not in its class. Lol

i now have 180 thousand miles on my 08 G. I bought it in Oct of 2010 with 55 thousand on it. I changed the shocks and struts (and upper mounts) at 120 the spark plugs at 130 and cleaned the injectors (but specifically did not want the throttle bodies cleaned) Replaced both front hub/bearings at 150. My son drove it for 2 years when i first got it so i went through tires and brakes and rotors like mad. Then my daughter started driving it and was far more easy on it. Getting 50 thousand between brake jobs !! (although she scraped the rims all around !) In the meantime i took it to visit my son at college about 40 times or so in 3 years and used it for vacations. Change ALL fluids religiously as per Infiniti recommendations. Used Mobil synthetic for crankcase and NIssan tranny fluid. Even changed out brake fluid and PS fluid every 25 thousand. Every 2 years i have had A/C evacuated and re-charged. It uses 1/4 qt oil between oil changes. It gets 28 mpg on highway when cruise is on 65mph. 25 mpg @75 mph. highway of course. Gets 17 to 18 in city driving. It has been the very best car i have owned in 45 years of owning cars. I guess i should try to get the oil pressure checked - because i am hoping to get 250 thousand out of the motor. Everytime i read vsq warnings about the oil pressure i swear i am going to take it to the my Infiniti mechanic…but i am old now and i forget…!!
