Relax, you know you're going to have to take some ribbing for this one.
It's not that it's personal. It's more like, it's just your turn. By that, I mean pretty much everyone with more experience than you has already done, or most likely will do this at some point, so they've had their turn too. It's just a lesson; all you can do is learn it and move on.

** FYI, they do have the right, and if you have a policy, by contract you've already agreed to provide the access, for your insurance company to download the information from your car's event data recorder (aka: black box) upon a claim for accident coverage. Theoretically, in the event of a crash, they could clearly see that you deliberately had your traction control switched off, and other pertinent info such as vehicle speed, gear selection, steering angle, throttle position, yaw sensor readings, brake application, etc.. You don't hear about them doing this unless there is significant liability involved, but you should know that they can do it. Just something else to consider before you switch off that VDC.

Would it help to consider that it could have been SOOOO much worse. I take it no one got hurt, and you didn't hit any other cars or cause property damage to others so, all in all, you may be getting off easy on this one. Hopefully you are insured (right???), and given it was during such a big storm, the insurance company will probably not even bother to look twice** at WHY you crashed the car.

Haha calm down, man. Like VQ said, we've all done **** like this. I won't even tell you the crap I've ruined for being curious or just misinformed (like I really won't tell you cuz its embarrassing). All it does tho is make you wish you could ask others to be more careful. Obviously, sometimes you gotta make your own mistakes. It'll be all good, man, just get thru the headache of going thru the insurance stuff and 3 weeks from now it'll all be worked out.

I wish you the best of luck, my friend. The damage looks scary! I sense some costly repairs in the future.. Same thing happened to my friends 5 series and the fool still drives around like that. You were flooring it around a corner weren't you lol I suppose Juno got the best of you, but crashing with AWD?? . didn't NY get hit with only 8inches? I was pulling some controlled maneuvers and fishtailing around in my sport sedan after getting hit with 30+ inches.

As I said, happened to me when I was 16. Fixed it all, and the car "crab walked" so bad, I sold it. You see it all the time on the road. A car that the rear wheels are sideways to the front wheels by 2-3".

And when I see those, it makes me so crazy I can't stand to follow them. Thank goodness I have the horsepower to get around them quickly :-)

Yeah, you are gonna want to stop driving that and go get the car looked at.
I would imagine this might be an expensive fix depending on what was bent. I'm sure a rim is damaged too. You may have to put a claim in and have insurance handle it and claim it was weather related.
As for giving you crap for messing around in the snow. I'm sure we've all done it. I'd be lying if i said i didn't turn my VDC off yesterday and get it sideways coming down the road. I can't really say "don't do that" when i did much worse when I was younger.
But anyway, i think you are about to learn a lesson here when you find out the cost of the repair. I'm sure it will be around $1K or more when all said and done unless you do the work 100% yourself.

Alright, the shop said it was one of the rear knuckles, as google shows, its a main component that holds a lot together. They gave me an estimate of $1,200 and said theyd get back to me after contacting nissan to get prices on new and used ones. They also said theyre gonna check out the price for an after market one. Im not an after market type of guy so i will go with the oem because the price difference is usually nothing crazy.
It has to be #1 in the diagram im guessing, which is only $298 and the bushings that are needed with it (if not included) couldnt be too much $. Here are the links of what im talking about, I dont know how to tag pictures on this forum, the normal " <img src=" "> doesnt seem to work.

(Second link that feature the pricing, part # ect... says #6 but #6 and #1 are the same thing on both diagrams (i just posted one of the 2 diagrams) )
Is an estimate of $1200 a lot for this fix? They will obviously have to do an alignment too but thats nothing.

That estimate seems kind of low for suspension damage. Since the impact made a $300 part give out, what about the dozens of other components? sensors, rods, ball joints, arms, sways, etc. You could have done some damage to the wheel hub and bent some studs too, maybe even some axle damage? Having this repair completed to meet factory spec could cost an arm and some toes lol

^yeah and Nissan doesn't sell ball joints or bushings separately, so yer talking knuckle assemblies and control arms for that stuff. I think your shop is being extremely optimistic. They may think they can just get some $40 bushings and then find out they actually have to get a $350 control arm just to get that bushing.
